Hi Folks,

I'm changing things up a bit and going to pause grinding for Explorer Elite in exchange for some mining fun. I picked up a Python and outfitted it in a manner that "feels" right, but since I'm a noob at mining, I thought I'd put it out there for suggestions.

If you're a miner and have made headway with the new tools, please take a look and make suggestions. It's built for PvE, private group / solo for now, so I'm not too worried about poachers or pirates.

You'll need a detailed surface scanner to survey the rings for metal/mineral hot spots (void opals current at 1.6 mil/T at the right station(s)), better shields, thrusters etc as you will be targeted by "The rumours were right!" and "I've come a long way for whats in your hold" pirate factions ;)

Once you successfully DC mine an asteroid it's unlikely you'll bother with conventional mining techniques as they pay so little for similar effort, currently I just fit a seismic charge launcher and an abrasion blaster and the rest of the hard points are for weapons.

you get no benefit from having 2 Abrasion Blasters. FDev fixed the issue where multiple fragments would break off when hit simultaneously with multiple blasts so you might as well replace one of those with something else

You only really need a small refinery, 2A has sufficient bins.

I'd opt for more collectors rather than prospectors. Put in 2 class 5 collectors and a class 3 prospector. You only need 2 prospect limpets at any one time. More collectors will mean faster mining.
