Going against your own word - "infiltrators" please note

99% of the reason we gancc is for more threads like this. 1% loadout testing or boredom. Thank you for accommodating our desires. It's been a good read.

Just ban offenders and move on. If you really want ganking to disappear, don't comment on it in game or out of game. Pls don't tho. The DW2 screencaps we're getting are pure gold. Gankers getting called racial and sexual slurs, and being told to kill themselves in game. High quality stuff. Maybe the recipients of such messages will report the offenders and get them banned. They'd be within their rights.

I agree the attention is the goal for a lot of this. The sad thing is of course is the more this happens the more people who will certainly move out of open or large PGs and just play with a few trusted members or solo or just move on to another game.
This is sad and hurts the game making evens like DW2 less popular and a side effect of PvPers whining evenore than they do already about how open is dead and the other modes need to go to help bolster open

So at the end of the day, it's all about the salt? I disagree with what you're doing but am recognizing that there may, for some players, still be a legitimate in-game reason for infiltrating a group and breaking their rules.

If you must gather salt, at least try to be a little sophisticated about it. Sort of a salt connoisseur if you will. Or perhaps a sommelier. Or really anything beyond "I did it for the lulz".

Less like this:

Lol yes. Variety is the spice of life. In a way, PG ganking is a way of getting that variety. I've never ganked a PG for the record, just open. And only when the opportunity presents itself.

But yes, it is VERY much about the salt and the salt alone. If you're the individual that think gankers think they're more skilled or something because they gank.....its not like that. It's about seeing words on a screen from an anonymous person and knowing that theres an actual person typing those words that's so fragile that you actually ruined their day. They may potentially even be crying. I can't speak for all the gankers, but I for one do in fact get a sense of satisfaction from knowing that I am a more emotionally resilient person than the person whining on the internet.

You gank other types of people too, which is equally great! Sometimes I'll kill someone and they'll say "lol gg. I really need to put a shield on this thing". And then we'll talk about engineering or whatever. I walk away happy knowing that I met a resilient person and it's great. And I wouldn't just immediately kill them again. Zero fun in that.

The worst though......the worst is silence. Interdict, boom.......and nothing. No comms. Pure waste of everyones time. Sad ganker face :'(

Thanks for confirming what most of us already openly suspected. That Gankers are little more than schoolyard bullies who get their kicks from getting a negative emotional reaction out of their victims, and all the extra attention they receive from that.

Ummm … sorry to break it to you, but you really aren't "more emotionally resilient" than the people you're griefing. You're obtaining a twisted sense of "satisfaction" by anonymously ruining someone else's day, just because you're hiding behind the protection of doing so on the internet instead of in person. That's not exactly what I'd call being "emotionally resilient". In fact you are demonstrating exactly the opposite by engaging in that behavior.

So no one is going to touch on smecca playing the game as intended.

While others are toxic against him. All because they blew someone up in a video game. All done in Open.

They tell you not to say or do anything at all to combat it, even showing how to shut the ganker/griefer down by not saying anything at all.

But instead the community reinforces negative behavior. Not saying anything about all the name calling and threats that happen. All because he blew someones space pixels up?

Ya'll need to rethink your strategies and yourselves.

Meh. If you say so. I'm aware of my real self outside of elite dangerous. I'm highly resilient in most ways that matter. Got my vices, but whatever. Forcing sensitive people on to their high horse may be one of them.

I'll admit I often challenge people's opinions and beliefs in the real world, but never in an aggressive way. Debate is important, without vilification. In person confrontation doesnt bother me one bit. I'm a good husband and father, and you'd VERY much likely call me a "good dude" if you knew me.

You guys really do think we're all a bunch of sadistic psychos irl dont you?

All that talent for so little reward.

Lol yea I know man. I gave them the recipe to defeat it. Oh well. Pour on the salt. I do appreciate the effort

What he has done is reinforce the views of people like Rampant. Basically saying that ganking is for out of game reasons, which goes against what a lot of others were trying to say.
But hey, at least he's the honest one and for that he's gotta get respect.

Real life psychopaths are few and far between, and usually very stealthy and hard to detect. You're thinking about sociopaths.

And no, just because someone chooses to behave like a troll online, doesn't make them a psychopath - just another boring online troll.

But even if it doesn't make you a psychopath, taking pleasure in triggering negative emotional reactions in others (and the extra attention generated from that) is not a great indicator of a healthy psyche.

To be fair, lots of people asked for in game reasons.

It was like pulling teeth just to try to get people to understand powerplay needed to go that direction.

But instead, IRL DLC is what you guys wanted. A lot of people here fought every step of the way for PVP to have no meaning in the game.

This is the only meaningful PVP we have. And they want to take that away too?!?!

For shame!

Thanks dude.

I would like to add that I am speaking for myself and myself alone. Though I suspect MOST gankers are of a similar mindset.

Of course there are legitimate reasons to "gank" within the game. Powerplay people, etc. Another great example would be New Dominion. Our pilots kill when the Overlord commands it, PvP outfitted ships or otherwise. The roleplay started by Zarek Null is actually pretty impressive, as far as elite dangerous goes.

You mean the completely unoriginal persona someone created to try and justify their online trolling via pseudo-LARPing?
