Graphics Mod to Remove Haze

Old Duck I hope the hard mode gets fixed for you. In the meantime, try rolling back to the previous drivers.
I've done it a bunch of times without any issues. X.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the files, and that did the trick. All is good!

I've also been studying the program that the OP uses, so that perhaps I can add my own touches to it in the future. For example, I hate the "TRON view" of planets after you map them with the DSS, so I'd love to turn that off if possible.

Good to hear. Let us know if you find the shader hashtag for hunting mode, if that's what it was.

I hate that DSS too. It should fade back to normal after a few minutes of scanning it.
I mean, I know, I just scanned it and the lady confirmed 100%. Little annoying things.

I don't mind it at all on the DSS screen, but the view out my window should look like a VIEW out a WINDOW, natural and unaugmented. This is why I also refuse to use night vision.

Hi AD, I havent played ED for 3 or more years because of those annoying orange circles and text, and I just happened to stumble across your amazing mod which removes them but for the life of me I can't get it to work.
I followed instructions in post #183
My issue might be, but hoping it's not, that I have the oculus version. The game launches fine with no errors but It just doesnt enable.
Any Ideas?
I had given up on FD to implement this minihud mod thinking it wasnt possible, but here you go, someone in there own time doing what should have been done many years ago by the devs themselves.
They probably still havent removed those two glaring lights in the ASP Explorer yet. LOL
Thanks for your efforts.

EDIT, just reread the thread and came across similar problem from Muskoka, I will try these solutions and post back.

EDIT EDIT...Good news, got it working with hash - fa1882f467c6f826 - that Muskoka posted, awesome stuff.
while im here, is it possible to remove the chat and info boxes in the upper left and right of the screen, with them gone it will be almost perfect.
Thanks again to all those involved in this.

Well all this is fine and dandy but it's done absolutely zero for by black levels on the Rift S which is what I'm mainly wanting to improve.
Any specific settings tweaks anyone can recommend?? I want black space.
This is the mod you are looking for!

It's an extension of the work done by CMDR AD. You can just copy the specific code from my .ini file to his to turn on BLACK SPACE. Enjoy!

Well, I've been trying to make this work for over 2 hours. It doesn't seem to work anymore :( Though I'm not sure what you mean by
Don't forget to refresh your game shaders
The only option I found in ED was Shader Preparation On Startup. I tried it on and off to no avail.
So I do believe the mod doesn't work anymore.

It works, but is outdated. Rather than muck around with this mod go to Old Ducks "Amazingly Realistic Immersion Mod". That's the next gen. :)

I'm posting here as I'm asking specifically about a shader I your version (which I've been trying to use with Old Ducks version). I still get streaks on my window when the stars are in the wrong angles despite the hash being skipped, it only goes away with hard mode turning the entire window-hud off. Do that specific hash still works? I've just copied your lines into Old Ducks version [ShaderOverride6] I think it was. Do I need to do something more/different?

This is the section of the code I'm using:
Code:
; Remove all "outside" HUD elements - circles around planets, labels, etc. It makes looking out
; the window feel just like that. This can be toggled using the appropriate key.
; NOTE - two shaders affect this, 74a61bc54382d4d9 and e61a98e9d493cdea (the latter retains glass)
[ShaderOverrideCanopyHUD]
Hash=74a61bc54382d4d9
if $showHUD == 0
  Handling=skip
endif

; Clean your window.
; Enable this mod to remove streaks on the cockpit window.
[ShaderOverride6]
Hash=e37ec68e66eac942
Handling=skip

[ShaderOverrideArtificialHorizon]

See below for a demonstration.

Hud turned on - there should be no streaking

This is hud turned of - and the streaking go away.

The old hash should still work (though I've not used it for a while).

It may be that the options in the new mod are interacting and changing the effect slightly. To test this, use the old hash by itself (i.e. comment out the other options temporarily). Then fly around a sun - there will be pronounced streaking on the glass if the hash is no longer working. If there is no steaking or only minor streaking, then the hash is still working. If working, uncomment the other options one by one in the new mod just to see if they change the appearance.

Thank you, I will try this and report back

I can confirm that the hash still works. It's significantly better than without it, but there's still some streaking. It may depend on ship how much the remaining streaking is (the Vulture seem better than the DBS). See attached photos with difference of hard mode, no streak, and regular streak. I tested with only the old hash on too, and the present streaking (less then regular) is the same as in my attached images, so no of the options are interfering with it.

I get quite a few errors (in red) when ED loads but have followed the install to the letter.

Any ideas?
Yep I get a lot of errors too cou[le say about duplicates and lots say something about numpad xxx error, but game loads fine and some of the mods seem to be working, think I will try and clean my ini file

Is there a way to toggle the black space or remove it completely? I like the nebula look.

This mod is incredible, it made me return to ED, no external HUD was all I needed.

Go a few pages back for my latest update, it may be what you are looking for. Either that or just comment out the section of code in d3dx.ini that makes space black.

Yes, found the answer. You guys are gaming heroes who become even more important in this new age of pandemics. Thanks.
