Gutamaya vs core dynamics

If we arranged a pitched battle between two sides in an asteroid ring in an anarchy system ten ships-a-side, equal numbers of large, medium (counting clipper as medium), and small per side, all Gutamaya on one side and all core dynamics on the other,... Who would win, and why?

Tough, fast, and small. The only downside is that the firepower isnt very good. But we have orcas and belugas for that ;)

Nah, the orcas and belugas will be too busy hanging outside of the asteroid belt taking selfies and worrying if the added space dust might mar their paintwork. Lets be honest here, the SK ships are the equivalent of the 21st Century SUV's. Sure most SUV's can technically go off-road but only a very small percentage of them will ever do that. Same with the SK, sure you can fit weapons to them, sure a very small minority will take them into combat but the vast majority won't, they just really aren't built for it :D

CDC.

Hands down, the iCourier does'nt compete with either Viper in a 1v1, even less so the Vulture, which in turn has a fairly favourable matchup against the Clipper.

The Cutter should beat out the Vette however given that CDC will inevitaly have more ships left over to sway that, CDC should win it.

Valid point. If it was arranged as two large, 3 medium, and five pawns per team, then the vultures would be very problematic. If it was last man standing wins, then Gutamaya would have to rely on speed.

If a Cutter is actually forced to go head-to-head with a Corvette and does not have the option to retreat/use its superior speed, then the Corvette will win due to the superior power distributor and maneuverability. In real combat(not the contrived scenario above), its just not possible for a Corvette to force a win as the Cutter can retreat whenever it wants, even to bank without fear of being cascaded(which also gives the Corvette that chance simultaneously). FGS is a much more powerful ship than the Clipper. Core Dynamics does not field small vs the Courier. So I give it to Core Dynamics.

Just my speculation, wiseacreing. It is a purely imagination scenario. Who would win vs the Cardassians and Klingons ? Could Babylon 5 and the White Stars beat the Dominion? Darth Vader vs the Master Chief. Who knows...

Cutter can’t beat Vette but can’t lose to it either if it doesn’t want.

We talking equal skill, equal coordination, equal weapon load outs (as much as possible)? The amount of hardpoints alone can give Core Dynamics an advantage. Gunships and vettes? That’s some serious firepower if weapon choice is good

I'd say equal skill; but loadouts to suit the ship types and the strategy. My guess on strategy would be for CDC to send pawns out first with gunships in tow: whereas GM would go cutters out first then pawns and clippers to encircle, annoy and dispesrse, by getting CDC to give chase and then for the cutters to chase down the chasers and take them out one at a time. Could be wrong on that though.

I assume we're also forcing the Gut ships to use Imperial fighters, while the CDs get to use Condors? I think in a theoretical 1v1 fair fight, a Condor will usually thrash an Imp fighter. And the Condors will outnumber the Imps at least 2:1, because the only fighter-carrier currently fielded by Gutamaya is the Cutter, while the CDs have both the Corvette and Gunship.

I beleive that would be the issue.. Sending a Cutter to deal with even a pair of Vipers is not a good time for that ship, cant outpace them, cant outturn them and because of those issues, it can seldom ever get guns on target enough to do any significant damage. People don't beleive me but it's true, you only need a couple of good pilots in the small birds and the largest vessels; matchups against them start to look very bad. Throw a Gunnie in the mix and you've got more firepower than one Cutter, only split between three potentially very evasive ships.

That beng said, the Glute ships have ramming on thier side, the flimsy wet paper bag that enshrouds the Gunnie will be instantly squished by a Clipper/Cutter ram opening the ship up to a pounding. Vipers if they get rammed will likely come of better than the Gunnie, but not by much. Viper 3 has good odds of exploding instantly and the MKIV.. Well that depends on the shield status of the ramming vessel. With shields? Yup the MKIV is going to get its face smushed in, however if the shields are down.. Well that shiny imperial bask tank now has an obnoxious MKIV shaped hole in it and is going to take quite the hull ding.

One thing is still certain in this universe though, Coke>Pepsi.

Core Dynamics, handily, even if you say the Clipper is a 'medium'.

If winning is 'the other team is dead', running away does nothing for Gutamaya. That the clipper, even engineered well, is easily destroyed by a medium ship - let alone a Corvette - renders it more of a handicap than a boon. The Imperial Eagle could be somewhat useful for SLF swatting, but that's the rub: Core Dynamics has a more rounded out field. With or without restrictions, of any kind, Core Dynamics has a superior ship in each segment.

Not a Federal Fanboy (definitely a Saud Kruger Fanboy), but I'm just not impressed by anything Gutamaya has when it comes to practical application in combat. They're not bad ships, far from it! The Cutter is infinitely useful as demonstrated by many commanders owning several. But when it comes to straight up, do-or-die combat, The Feds have this in the bag by far.

While Gutamaya ships can engage in combat, they're more for Force Projection.
That is, they have to look both pretty and impressive.
And they do
Every single one of them.
