Has E:D been "parked" by FD, is it in what developers call maintenance mode?

lol!

fanboy level = OVER 9000!!!!

Just out of curiosity, which part of that makes someone a fanboi?

The bit about refunds being given when offline mode was ditched is completely accurate.

The part about Sean Murray lying, openly and specifically, when asked in an interview about multiplayer in NMS is absolutely true. In case you've forgotten, it was tested when the game was released and nothing Hello Games have done since that debacle changes the fact that he flat-out lied.

I can't believe that you're seriously disputing that this forum would be like the aftermath of a nuclear strike if David Braben had similarly flat-out lied about this game before release.

So go on, where;'s the fanboi-ism evidenced by those entirely accurate facts?

the part where he accuses another developer of lying about features, and when presented with several examples of FDev doing similar things makes excuses for them and insults the person that pointed it out.

Mat traders are a cheap band aid to the broken mess that is engineers. It fixes no underlying problem. The universal fix to the crap balance is to roll the bloody dice until you finished unlocking thebpowercreep or incur brain damage from zhe mundane and stupid repetitive time-killers to do so.
ED never needed engineers. It was just dumped for compulsive gaming exploitation.

Breathing is a cheap band aid to the mess that is our aerobic metabolic system.

Voting is a cheap band aid to our mess of a political system.

Driving is a cheap bandaid on our failure to develop cheap effective personal teleporters....

Having a tool that helps people convert what they have to what they need isn't cheap or a band aid. Its a valuable way to offer options to players who may rather farm one thing than many or who may need a bit more of something else.

Most of what you said is buzzword bingo. Its not identifying a problem or offering a solution. Then it ends on some conspiracy theory nonsense.

A tool to simplify gathering materials is designed to kill time? That's self contradictory.

As for the game needing engineers, it doesn't. Then again it doesn't need more than one type of ship, or module, or modules at all.

These are options and options are generally nice to have.

NMS devs did lie. They promised content they did not deliver, and produced that deceptive video that was not game footage. After they did bother to develop their game and props to them for it.

However there was obviously intentional deception.

With the example of single player offline mode Fdev said they were working on it, found out they couldn't and then owned that failure and offered full refunds.

For it to be a lie you have to show intentional deception. Did NMS offer refunds? I don't recall seeing that they did. They just went silent for several months then started adding to their game.

to me, the intention behind the lie is irrelevant. I don't care what excuse they gave for lying.

Engineers and the power creep is useless in itself. No one needed it. No one asked for it. It's only purpose is to tie players to a boring, convoluted, overly RNG-dependent loot chase that was arbitrarily introduced with little afterthought, no semblance of any care to balance, bugged and so out-of-touch to the requirements that it drove aside what ED was originally about and forced itself as the new defacto required gameplay. A cheap RNG rouletto instead of flying a spaceship around.

Nailed, most succinctly, dear boy. 🔨

Or, girl!

I think it's just more tuning option to make your ship what you want it to be, questionning yourself in the progress. Nothing wrong making effort to get that. One of my favorite design of the game is you forget the "i have to visit each engi each time i want to do somthing on my ship" and yeah pinned plan help , but experimental kida negate that.

If you look closer , to fully engineer a ship you "may" have to do every job in ED . Fight , mission , exploration. (I consider dave hope as exploration tho.)

Agreed, but since it is what we have, traders are a godsend.

Then you are using a nonstandard definition of "lying" that will include anyone who is ever wrong about their future plans.

Useless in itself is a description of every element of every video game. It adds utility and customization for all the ships and a goal above getting a few billion credits. You may not like it but if someone presented the option to me I'd say yeah add that, it looks great.

Everything else is just a hyperbolic string of insults so I get you don't like engineering, I don't see your "argument" against it as even remotely compelling.

Doesn't mean it isn't coming.
