Have the developers acknowledged the FPS issues?

Hey peps, I also noticed a FPS issue too. I built a map with all rides and it has 2,800 visitors. I have an Intel i7 6700k and Sapphire Nitro AMD Radeon R9 390 and frame rate considerably drops to 11-15fps around my park's main entrance (MSI Afterburner). The game is in Alpha stage and maybe Frontier will fix and optimise it near full release expected later this year for the full game. But, I LOVE this game!

Well at any rate, I'm guessing the game is too much for an i7-3770k?

What are you actually talking about my friend?

I am running planet Coaster on a i5 @ 3,3GHz processor. I have some trouble in the beginning when loading the game, but once my park and the menus are loaded, I can play smoothly.
But, I don't have 100 other processes running at the same time.

I currently play Planet Coaster on that very CPU. It runs planet coaster quite fluidly. :)

If I may ask, do you overclock, or is the "turbo mode" sufficient?
Also, what GPU do you use?

Just watched the "Shared Vision" livestream. Someone specifically asked about CPU usage and FPS. I'm a bit concerned by the producer's reply in that he said that the CPU usage automatically is scaling to the power of the CPU to power guest AI and how much it considers, and that a "very smart guy" told him that it should have negligible effect on FPS.

Okay, so, why are some people with top of the line graphics cards and plenty of RAM getting like 10-15 FPS?

Only thing I've noticed is that all the LPers I've seen that have complained about the issue and also post their system specs seem to be running on AMD processors. Could that possibly have any effect?

The frame rate drops to a low 11fps. This shouldn't happen with a high end 6th gen Intel Core i7-6700k CPU and Sapphire Nitro AMD Radeon R9 390 8GB GPU.
The game is still only in Alpha Stage. They should have it much more optimized nearer the game's full release. Other than that, the Alpha is very enjoyable.

Im also concerned with this because they said that this does not effect FPS but it clearly does? My PC does this also and my Specs are more than enough, If this is not fixed its going to ruin the whole game!

Don't worry, the sky isn't falling. Their explanation of the CPU usage is that the game will take advantage of idle time on your CPU cores and scale the simulation appropriately. It does this at a low priority, so any tasks that have higher priority (e.g. other applications, or the render loop) will be unaffected by the extra CPU usage. [Actually, this isn't quite true because context switching will incur some latency but it should be negligible]

That's not to say that there aren't other situations in which the game becomes CPU-bound, it's just hard for us as the users to distinguish between the normal case and the CPU-bound case as they effectively look the same. The best thing we can do as testers is to report when our park / simulation is leading to low frame rates, and let the developers investigate *why* that is. But again, don't worry -- Frontier are well aware that the game needs to be performant on a range of hardware across all sizes of park, and will be actively optimising and bugfixing when they find cases that cause loss of performance. :)

It's the good ol "AMD CPU" problem... I have an FX-8350 and a 980ti and the game is really laggy with a bunch of stuff in the park. So yea... Graphics cards DONT matter.

Hmmm, I wonder why this problem seems to only (as far as I've seen) with the AMD processors? I mean, it's a relief to me since I use Intel, but I'm curious if that is really the problem and what the difference is that could lead to this. I mean, isn't the only difference that Intel has hyperthreading?

Not even close. The architecture of an AMD compared to an Intel (newest versions) is like comparing the Pentagon with a campfire. There are a LOT of really old technices used in those prozessors. Wich is why an Octacore with 4Ghz costs 150$ from AMD and 700 from Intel.

1. the framerate going fast down, and then going up could be the auto save system.
2. Something wonky is going about in his PC. I have an i7-4790K and a 970gtx and bigger parks 100% more themed than that work at 50-60fps.

Im running a i7-5930k 3.5Ghz oc 4.0Ghz
Asus ROG Rampage V
2x Asus ROG 1080 HB SLi
32GB GSkill Ripjaw 2400 DDR4
3x Asus ROG Swift 27 inch G sync monitors
7680x1440

I noticed when I go to coaster cam the FPS gets much better then if i was just moving around my park or working on my park
I get about 30 fps just doing nothing and about 60 fps on coaster cam.
also I noticed in the options menu it won't show 2 graphics cards

The FPS is determined by how muchy detail is on the screen at any one time, plus it was stated elsewhere that the game does not support SLI. I think they also said that the game is CPU intensive.

Crimeny, you've already got 2 1080 cards? I've been waiting for people to stop overcharging to be afford just one 10 series card. Must've cost a pretty penny, only to still not run the game smoothyl [blah]

It Runs smooth, better than a lot of other peoples rigs too I bet. and I can reduce the size if i like and get over 100fps, I didn't buy the card just to play PC, So that does not bother me that FPS are low in hi res. I know they are aware of this so I will wait and see if its better later. [up]

Don't worry, I'm envious myself! [praise]

@Weegee, interesting finding for the camera changes causing the FPS to vary like that.

Its my hobby to build really nice gaming pc's. and eveyone needs a hobby. But anyways, even at 30 fps it does not feel slow, I use fraps a lot, Im FPS crazy, but I wont lower detail just to get higher frames, Planet coaster just looks too good, but i doubt I can buy much more for my pc to get the FPS up, I do have a titan x i could use as a dedicated physX gpu, but the heat from 3 gpu's that close can't be good. and no i am not water cooling.

Planet Coaster doesn't currently support SLI, so one of those 1080s will basically be idle [happy]

Cheers
