Help to test this : After a fleet carrier jump, you are left outside of the carrier

Second jump test

Reboot PS4, ED asked to replace save data file which is corrupted - Yes.
Ship is 10km away from carrier, proceed docking.
- without touching 2nd PS4 (client ship still docked, I assumed).
Jump.
Ship not ejected.

Check 2nd PS4 client ship.
- remain docked, good news.
Launch and dock again.
Shut down 2nd PS4.

...to be continued for 3rd jump :D

I see what I did differently was say 'NO' to replacing the corrupted data with new, and exited game and downloaded it.
I'll try saying yes next time if that's what you recommend. Edit: Hmm, that is too bad, Sorry you got ejected. :(

Unfortunately when they say...

You really have no idea what was done. I suspect on our platform. Very little unfortunately.

I expect on the PS5 to still crash as it did pre patch.

It's just a short jump, so not an issue.

Good news is that the client ship remains docked, so no worries of leaving any ship behind. But as long as client system (PS4, PC, etc) is not running, while the FC jumps.

That was my case, I logged out and was docked the next time I came back. I think Odyssey's going to be bugged to hell so they should just release it for console
instead of working on literally two different games at the same time! lol

To be honest I am not sure I can take it if that happened. I think the PC version still needs a hell of a lot of work before it comes our way.

It doesn't appear to be going that will over in PC Odyssey land.

I do wonder what is causing the carrier crashes. Is it a network thing which just falls over and causes a crash. I suspect on PS5 that's exactly what's happening with most crashes for me.

So, what's the procedure for jumping now? Set up a jump, then log off before the jump and come back in after the jump is completed? Sorry for asking this again, but you kind of lost me with all this now, also been away for most of the day and didn't keep up with it.

As for getting any significant improvements for Horizons on console... are we still beating this dead horse, guys?

I suspect if you log off after set to jump, you will still find your ship 10k away from the carrier the next time you log back in (I will do another test on this soon).

If you keep the game running, after each jump, you just need to dock again to the carrier, your ship is much nearer to your carrier this way.

But we're also losing bindings, or we just get ejected from the FC?

Oh, I lost bindings last time I jumped. If you're wondering I have no plans to jump my carrier as I'm in a system I think the next CG will be.
If not then I'm jumping out Later Today.

You only get ejected (most possibly losing bindings) only if someone docked on your FC. In my test case, my own alt ship on a 2nd PS4. You may disable docking too, if your carrier is not setup for any buy/sale.
Think it's all a bit random, yesterday pre patch on PS5 I jumped 16 carrier jumps on the bounce. I only crashed once and lost bindings.

The rest were ok, but, what was recommended to me was undock and re-dock with the carrier each jump during the cool down. I've no proof this helped apart from the anecdotal I was ok.

My alt who was docked on the carrier and stayed logged out, was perfectly fine and docked after jump 16.

🤷‍♂️

Adding to your findings, my carrier only crash / eject me on the first jump after the alt ship is docked. When the alt ship remains docked, further jumps will at random eject my main ship, but the game won't crash and does not reset the save data file.

I wonder if where you jump matters? I was jumping up to Rackham's Peak so was mostly in the black, apart from the last jump which was also ok no crashes or ejection.

Are you in the bubble or out of the bubble? I generally have more difficulty in the bubble.

Also to note I was in Solo last night. I usually play Open but, wanted to reduce any network load and hopefully reduce crashing. My actual crash was Open before I switched game modes.

I'm jumping in the bubble for these tests. Just one system to another nearby, near Summerland, ranking up for my 2nd cmdr.

I've always wondered if other carriers jumping etc was one part of the crashing equation on the PS5 but, as a rule of thumb my PS5 is much more likely to crash in a system with either many commanders or many carriers.

As an aside thinking about crashing in general 🤔 I've never had a crash in Shinrarta Dezhra and there are no fleet carriers in that system (according to inara, I can't check in game but, assume carriers cannot jump there). There are however always lots of players in Open in SD.

So maybe the route of all problems is FCs.
