just had the time to download and play for 20 minutes yesterday just to "fly and drive around"

I CANNNOT CONNECT TO THESEVERERS. i keep trying to check back and no one has responded to me. Im getting really sick of spamming this forum. First i couldnt install last night. Then this morning i was able to install and now I cant connect to servers. WTH

I pre-ordered Horizons in September, was it possible to pre-order without it coming with beta access?

You have to buy it. It's called Planetary Vehicle Hangar or something like that. Not every station has it.
Season 1 beta access vor Pre-orderers was worth of 15€. Shop FD page is not mentioning beta access for pre-order

As far as I recall the option to be involved in Beta was announced and made available at the same time. I may be wrong on this though but I am pretty sure that you had the choice of which product you wanted.
If indeed it is a case that you have bought the wrong product you may be able to open a ticket through FD Customer Support and try to get refunded for the base game purchase and re-buy the Horizons Beta.
However I don't know the cut off time for getting the Skins / Cobra MkIV for pre-purchasing so I would ask that question should you be requesting the refund.

Hi mate I found you only needed roll for flight, I have Roll on the ship left and right on the X55 to turn left and right in the buggy, and yaw twist to control the gun left and right and pitch for up and down on aiming this way you can still steer the buggy left and right whilst in turreted mode and using the throttle to control the speed.
So when I use boost and lift off the surface I can still use the roll left and right to steer to steer the buggy when in the air

If you are not sure what you have, it should be listed in your account page in the store.
Hi, I recently downloaded the beta and read that it would use its own save file but to my surprise I was in my diamondback explorer with my eagle 4.30LY away (I was previously in my eagle before the beta), did I miss something or is this a bug with the server?
Wondering the same, very disappointed in not being able to play and FD have gone very quiet
