i reckon for the 1st few days i will stick in either my cobra or my asp... just in case something goes wrong.

actually just to split hairs you are doing the total opposite of this, you were calling a beta NOT a beta ;)

bottom line, no matter what you or FD choose to call it, you knew (or had the option to know) exactly what you were signing up for when you entered it....... software which WOULD have bugs, and that all progress would be wiped at the end of testing, and that you were kindly requested to feedback bugs if you felt so inclined.

Extremely poorly handled. This is planned downtime, common courtesy should require the usual 60 minute warning before the servers go down. Two thumbs down for this.

I got one on the beta servers 2 hours before they were due to go down - didn't the live servers receive the usual 2h, 1h, 30m, 15,10,5, in-game broadcasts?

Maybe not by your definition. The thing is: your definition is wrong.

It doesn't matter if you need to pay or not, beta is purely a stage in the software release life cycle. By your definition all freeware and shareware would be beta, because you don't need to pay for it.

Wowsa this makes me kinda of mad im in australia and have been playing for the past 3 hours and didnt get any message. Also i read the first steam login page sometimes but didnt know anything about today, have to wonder why you have a login screen like the one you do have if it isnt used to present meaningful information.
