News Horizons and 1.5 launch - Servers offline

I have a simple question.
I pre-ordered Horizons but let's say for some reason i would like to postpone the client upgrade to Horizons for a few days. Do i have the option to just download the 1.5 patch (which is mandatory i guess) and continue playing the "vanilla" Elite Dangerous until i decide to upgrade to Horizons?

thanks in advance

Maybe not by your definition. The thing is: your definition is wrong.

It doesn't matter if you need to pay or not, beta is purely a stage in the software release life cycle.

By pure definition. Yes. As in Alpha, Beta, Gamma.

Quite where you factor money in any of that, I don't know.

And what exactly would be your point, if there is any?

Since the dawn of computing, reasonable advance warning of system downtime has been an expected and common courtesy. FD just decided not to follow that practice. Again, two thumbs down.

You need to take a step out in to the world, get some air - perhaps a cup of coffee tea.
What makes me happy about your post is that your life must be so uncomplicated for the downtime of a computergame to be of any concern to you.

Two thumps up!

Yes you can choose to install/upgrade the 32 bit Elite Dangerous from the launcher which will include 1.5 but not horizons.

I was also one of the people who were in the middle of a jump when the servers went down. Hope I don't log in to find myself inside a suns corona haha

OK FDEV, you heard it. Ellegon is not happy so please stop the server upgrade immediately and put version 1.4 back online.

How people can still find a way to complain when Horizons is about to launch is beyond me.

Great job FD, getting at it right at the start of the working day! Good luck with the update, I hope I will yave the time to play today.

Yzangard you've paid for all the "Season" acces. So this is not an Early access, this is Beta and it will be beta each time you'll download the Beta on the season, not an early acces of each patch lol. Understood?

I'm not clear? Sorry, trying to do my best in Learning English, but i know what i've bought ;)

What an incredibly imature reply, certainly you do not work in IT management. If you did, you would know that you never ever surprise a customer with unexpected downtime, unless there is no alternative.
