Hot takes for planet zoo

🐺Weekly Hot Take🐺
with the the new dlc to be revealed in a week I decided to base this week on the pack. With the there being 2 slots left in the next pack I am wondering, what is your most controversial picks for those last 2 slots, any animal can be mentioned besides mare and coati sense those are popular and highly requested. These don't have to be the animals you want the most, just some controversial or biased choices, for example I would go with Geoffrey's Spider Monkey and SA tapir.
Technically, the black-footed ferret's range extends to Mexico, so I'd say it counts. The same goes for the American black bear and the Virginia Opossum. I'd also like to have the tamandua and the Brazilian or Andean porcupine.

Kiwis and platypus (don't know the plural here lol) are not kept in outdoor habitats, yet we have them in the game.
Agree with your overall points (if people care about realism they can just build an indoor habitat or aviary to contain animals that need them IRL), but just wanted to point out that platypus can be kept outdoors, it's mostly uncommon because there's less chance of the platypus being active and seen by visitors than if they were in a darkened building. Below are two examples from Taronga Zoo and one from Healesville Sanctuary.

I believe there are also some instances of kiwis being kept outdoors but they'd probably almost never be active whilst the zoo is open. I know less about that though.

Oh that's cool. Didn't knew that.

I dont think I have ever seen the platypus in the taronga aviary they are hard enough to spot in their separate nocturnal house.

mountain tapir and azaras agouti.
Agoutis are such an under rated pick and are way more common than the mara or coati which are very rare where im from.
Mountain tapir are just fluffy goofballs that remind me of muppets.

I’ve seen 3 out of the 4 tapirs in captivity I’m only missing Brazilian Tapirs. I was so blessed to see mountain tapirs when I visited Los Angeles Zoo and I gotta say they are adorably fluffy. More than the other tapirs

Mountain Tapir! (see below) And Brocket! An adorable relative of the White-tailed Deer that someone brought up in DLC19 thread! So neither of my choices I came up with...

I love them too! I have never seen one in person, but I'd visit Cheyenne Mountain or Los Angeles just to see one! Los Angeles also has Goral and Sand Fox which are pretty rare as well. :)

Red brocket (Mazama americana) and olingo or kinkajou.

Although I’ve never seen them myself, apparently they’re more common than I thought - especially in Europe. Zlín Zoo, Vogelpark Avifauna, Antwerp, plus Toledo in the US all have kept kiwi outdoors at some point recently in more traditional aviaries mixed with other birds.

Here’s Vogelpark Avifauna’s enclosure:

They're often mixed with Australian species overseas interestingly enough, which I’m unsure how to feel about tbh... The exhibit above includes Aussie magpie, but I’ve also heard of crested pigeon, blue faced honeyeaters, and kookaburra being mixed with them. I’ve also seen them with tawny frogmouth myself at Bronx and Columbus (which do keep them indoors).

Luckily they do still seem to have dark places to hide from the public in these enclosures - which they seem to be doing most of the time.

Can confirm that zoo Zlín has both indoor and outdoor enclosure for Kiwis (and Kea). At summer, they offer a very early morning visits to see the Kiwi while they are still active in their outdoor enclosure. Occasionally, you can also see them being awake during the day. I was lucky one time, last photo is mine while one of them went for a snack in the middle of a day, haha.

Oh my god this looks beautiful! They seem to have more space here than a lot of indoor exhibits I've seen. I can't help but notice the signage though - are they mixed with the labeled kākāriki by any chance? Cause if so that's such a cool mix!

I guess I have an excuse to use my favorite animal more often, knowing how well they can be kept in traditional bird yards. I'm seriously obsessed with this exhibit ;-;

🐒Weekly Hot Take🐒
I realized a pattern from the 3 most recent dlc's, including America's Animal Pack, each have one unique animal that requires some form of new rig (Chicken, Sifaka, and now Saki) and then the rest are relatively easy to make animals, with one or two requiring some more effort then the rest but still being nothing insanely difficult to do (Highland Cow, Hamadryas Baboon, Dik-Dik, Bush Dog) so I wondered, using Frontier's current dlc template how would you make a new dlc, here is a template for what you need to do as well as a example of it
Clone: Reuses existing rig
Semi-Clone: somewhat different from existing rig, but still doesn't require to much effort
New rig: sadly we probably wont get another Porcupine or swan, so these will have to use a existing rig as a starting point, but can also be unique (animals like Prehensile-Tailed Porcupine, Pelican, Howler Monkey, Honey Badger, etc)

New Rig: White-nosed Coati
Semi Clone: Aardwolf
Clone: Nile Crocodile + Grey-crowned Crane + Serval + Perentie + Black Swan
Scrublands Animal Pack
I'm assuming Echidna not allowed as the New Rig?
