How can I find datamined wake exceptions, since there are no Famine systems?

That is so bad....

Yes, I know.

That's the nature of the sandbox FDev have currently given us to play in though.

Said it before but, given that places like Dav's Hope, the Jameson crash site and the crashed annies actually exist - so people can just go and fill up on various mat's by relogging - would it not be better if they made the effort to come up with a handful of places where a bit of effort allowed players to gather 50-odd mat's all at once?

I'd much rather make the effort to, say, go to the jameson crash site and fight off a bunch of Black Flight ships and then scan the data-beacon once to get 50 scans instead of just relogging for half an hour to achieve the same thing.

There is not a single system in Famine right now?

Not one?

I find that hard to believe, to be honest.

Since the BGS was reset at teh release of 3.3 and all the systems were returned to states of none, only player deliberate actions make things happen in systems at any kind of speed. The BGS paying on its own doesn't accomplish much very quickly, hence no states yet (now a full month). No famine, very little civil unrest, very little outbreak. It;s like we didn't have enough materials problems already :D

Check eddb.io Almost no civil unrest, definitely no famine, rare outbreak.

I think SciTrekker means that scanning the data-beacon at a surface-scan location can yield DWEs.

Which it can.

Sometimes.

I guess if you like doing surface scan missions, or you're trying to gain faction/navy rank by farming those missions in a given system, then gaining some DWEs might be a nice little bonus but I wouldn't fancy relying on it.

Surface scan missions (to outposts and buildings) never gave DWEs from performing the scan itself. Never. 100%. If they do now, it started since 3.0. I promise. :)

Outbreaks are RNG

Not exactly. They are on a timer and if food isn't brought when the state goes pending then it happens and a cooldown period starts until the cycle repeats. But you're right, they are the odd one out in my list.

Thank you - the BGS and how third-party sites get their information isn't something I've looked too deeply into, if I'm being honest. I know where to go to get stuff that I want based on the BGS, but not the underlying causes of anything.

If what you say is true, then perhaps Frontier needs to do a bit of selective time acceleration? Not having at least one representative of each System state in the entire Bubble seems like something that should not be allowed to happen.

The BGS does need a kickstart. Many people believe it's still the reason for low HGE spawn rates, and they might be right.

That reminds me, there's a haz-res I saw a while back that placed the res site between the rings of the planet, so mining ships would jump in, notice the complete absence of any rocks in the vicinity, make a statement about how there's nothing but dust, and jump out again. If I could find that site again I'd probably go there and grab wakes. It'd be persistent too, rather than having to worry about system states.

Distribution Centres were never that great BTW. Even when famine states were fairly common it took time to find one and then the drop rate was still....meh

I stopped trying to find them months back. I found that busy stations were almost as good and if you stick a wake scanner on your main ship DWE's keep coming.... not at a great rate but they are rare.

My tip for wake scanning is to hang around a busy starport and scan everything that leaves. Do this in a fast ship, like an Imp Eagle, Viper III or something. If you do it in a Conda, you will hate life.

Jaques Station is very good for this since the three nearby tourist beacons generate a lot of extra traffic - there's presumably similar station+beacon combinations somewhere in the bubble.

Yes - just find a busy station, a fast ship and either long range or fast scan A-rated wake scanner.

I would contest the opinion that Shinrarta is the busiest system right now - my money is on Omega Mining Operation (the current CG station). Bit hard to get there, though, if you don't have an upgraded FSD :D

You can get a G4 FSD + Mass Manager without any Datamined Wake Exceptions, though - and all the others will show up in high quantities from a bit of casual scanning as you go along - which gives you about 85% of the performance boost of the G5. More than enough to get to wherever the DWEs are today, then finish it off with the pinned blueprint.
