How can I find datamined wake exceptions, since there are no Famine systems?

Distribution Centres were never that great BTW. Even when famine states were fairly common it took time to find one and then the drop rate was still....meh

I stopped trying to find them months back. I found that busy stations were almost as good and if you stick a wake scanner on your main ship DWE's keep coming.... not at a great rate but they are rare.
I disagree. All of my ships' FSDs have been maxed by sitting at a DC. If you engineer a wake scanner to the longest range there is a sweet-spot at a DC where you can just gimbal around without otherwise moving, and get 20-30 DWE per hour..

1. Goto Jameson's Crashed Cobra site there are 4 data points
2. Scan all
3. Are your boots filled yet?
4. Switch modes
5. Go to 2

6. Boots are full, so head to a material trader and trade what you scanned for what your need

This, but I tend to use the Bug Killer and get raws at the same time.

No need to switch modes, just relog, same mode is fine. :)

Do find those in famine systems? I never get any from sidewinders and haulers.. to increase chances they need to be a certain class of ship that isn't those.

I never board hopped more than once either so if people brute forced sidewinders to get them ouch.

My tip for wake scanning is to hang around a busy starport and scan everything that leaves. Do this in a fast ship, like an Imp Eagle, Viper III or something. If you do it in a Conda, you will hate life.

Did this at Chelomey Orbital in Cubeo last weekend. In a sidewinder. In open. DD'd enhanced thrusters.
Wakes for days from all the navy ships circling the capital ship dock, NPC traffic, and for bonus points you get to induce crazy paranoia from the local CMDRs at the presence of a hollow triangle zooming around their powerplay HQ.

Despite the need for workarounds being a sign of a broken system, the best way to acquire DWEs (or any other scan data) is simply to go to the Jameson crash site with an SRV, position it in the middle of the 4 data beacons, swap to the turret, scan them all, relog until you've maxed-out all the data they provide (which won't take more than half an hour) and then go to a mat-trader.

The Jameson Crash site provides:-
- Atypical Encryption Archives.
- Adaptive Encryption Captures.
- Cracked Industrial Firmware.
- Modified Consumer Firmware.

Go to a mat-trader before visiting the Jameson site and trade all your stocks of these things for other stuff and then go to the Jameson site for another load of this stuff.

No, it's not exactly sparkling gameplay but this is the situation FDev have put us in so that's where we are. [sad]

This is what I do usually.

Interesting side note - these can actually be farmed without using the SRV. It's less efficient, due to ship data link needing to be within ~70m of each point to work, but way cooler:

Either find 'convoy signals' as the ships will jump out and new ones will arrive. Or Jameson's Crashed Cobra and trade for them. I used a DBE and there's a data trader two jumps away iirc.
It's boring as anything but no more so than wake scanning.

This is great, I'm grinding right now and the turret hint is fantastic! Thanks a lot.

Well, it's about as sparkling as sitting next to a distribution center and scanning high wakes for several hours o_O.

Fly two ships on separate computers and scan your own wakes as you jump doing exploration. DWE seems to occur best when the scan distance is between 1.5-2 km

I park myself right outside the station, right about where ships wake in and out, and scan wakes.

Average of 30 minutes produces an average of 30 DWE. It's just not that hard.

Ummm I'll certainly call on this post. No, one won't get 30 DWEs by simple scans at a station. Never.

I should be back in the bubble some time around October, maybe November, at the earliest. I'll set a reminder to shoot some video. It's really not that hard scanning at stations to find DWE's. Now I won't say it works at just ANY station. It needs to be a fairly remote station - one with long jumps to the next closest system, but it works quite well.

Inner-bubble systems tend to suck, since most of the jumps are short enough to make in a stock sidewinder. But pick a good system out on the fringe, and you'll be asking for the condiments to go with that crow.
