How can I find datamined wake exceptions, since there are no Famine systems?

Whoah whoah whoah. You mean to tell me that in the 4 months I’ve been gone, and even after a major patch, we STILL don’t have any famine systems? Seriously?
FD continue to neglect mechanics and incentives for reaching hostile rep and achieving negative-state effects.

There's no Famine systems because you need to turn down the economy of a faction to it's very lowest (that is, go through from None down to Bust and then on to Famine), as opposed to previously where famine could be achieved from any state.

Only ways I'm aware of to cause Famine are:
  • (Maybe?) Black market sales.
  • (Maybe?) Selling for a loss on the commodity market for a faction
  • Doing the scarce-few missions which cause economic degradation for a faction

my best find was to hit a bulk hualer and the scan the wake of all the ships that pass in the night.
they just fly by and then jump. lots of wakes but they are usually spread out so a fast nimble ship is good.

I used to make a habit of scanning everything when leaving a station, but jamesons cobra is the best way for data these days. Logging out isn't the most fun activity, but its a lesser evil than rng.

I tried that, it's like watching paint dry and ruins my desire to continue playing.

Hey, each to their own. The fss ruins my desire to keep playing. We all have different tastes on the best thing to not play because of.

I don't want to say it but yes, i do listen to a podcast at the same time. You kinda have to :(

EDIT: In passing, i was at a station somewhere which had so much activity i thought to myself it must have been possible to have a constant stream of wakes to be able to scan there. Sadly didn't write down what it was, or the bgs conditions that it was. That's probably what id do, go fishing around the bgs to see if certain conditions cause enough traffic at stations for fun.

Any system with high traffic will do the job, really. I had to stock up lately too - sit about 2km outside the slot and wait for people to jump away and scan the wakes. It's boring AF though.

As has already been stated in the thread, there is no faster way to farm any data than by exploiting the Jameson cobra for infinite encryption captures and trading them 16 to 1 for what you want. The 100 AECs can be gathered in 8 minutes.

I'm all for forcing a famine state. Someone just say the target system and we can begin.

I suggested that months ago.

There's no reason why we couldn't annex specific systems and perpetually keep them in the required state to provide each type of mat'.

Not that the Pilot's Federation is a powerful, shady, cabal or anything.

B or C-rated wake scanner, long range 5, sit 6 km or so outside a busy station and scan to your heart's content. You'll get your datamined wake exceptions.

I get loads of DWEs by strapping wake scanners to my combat ships, and winning CZs, and scanning the retreating forces, as well as scanning wakes at stations.
I hadn't thought about CZs, that seems like a good way to get them as a casual thing over time rather than having to spend a dedicated session at it.

Yep. All the "reasonable" methods of finding resources tend to dry up giving way to ridiculous scenarios like Jameson Cobra. That seems to be the way of Elite Dangerous.

Only if you want them to, I've never been to any of the collection spots for the purpose of grinding mats. I did go to Jameson's Cobra because I wanted the story, while I was there I did collect as much data as I could (might as well if I'm there) but I've never been back. Only just visited Dav's yesterday.
