How many of you don't play anymore?

For the umpteenth time, people are emotionally (and financially) invested in this game and so they care about it.
Nobody would bother posting on COD or AC forums if they don't play those games, or indeed if they've played them and got their few hours of fun.
This is supposed to be a long term continuously developed "mmo" and people are expressing their disappointment after having waited decades in some cases for a 21st century evolution of Elite.

..................................

For the umpteenth and one time then - you can't complain about a game you haven't even bothered to pick up and play for months.
If you didn't bother to even log in to the game to see if it's any different, you don't have much in the way of experience to comment on problems, because you obviously havent experienced them first hand recently, but instead have been reading exaggerated views from other people on the forums about a particular problem they've had and decided that somehow that must be the case for everyone.

Are you just making stuff up? what problems was I talking about in this thread?
The apathy towards the game stems from a lack of content and depth and any meaningful interaction with the world beyond shooting stuff.

Please show me where the content was added since 1.1...

Also haven't played in over a month. The grind doesn't bother me at all. I don't mind grinding in a sandbox that has logical and interesting NPC interaction. However, I believe that the current USS system -- and everything built around them, like the "quests" -- is horrible and an insult to player's time. There isn't an underlying simulation -- it's a spreadsheet that gets manually knocked about by a developer to spawn a couple of combat zones around some planet I'm too far away from at the moment. Etc. etc. etc... So, like someone else mentioned above, I spend my grind time in GW2, building my first ascended weapon.

I hang around the forums in the increasingly forlorn hope that there's an announcement from FD that they're tearing out and replacing a bunch of gameplay systems.

Not playing since short after release, mostly because I quite dislike FD and their marketing tactics, and of course because the game, while visually well done, is as shallow as tic tac toe...

Sorry but I disagree - I think they can complain, just because 'they haven't bothered to pick it up and play for months' what a load of rubbish.

Had they never played the game I might understand, but I'm afraid you can't just say "sorry you're view doesn't matter because <anything arbitrary that I can make up so that my view is more important than yours>".

Also I am playing regularly and agree with a lot of what they are saying, I've said it enough times coherently and comprehensively and won't say it again but the game deserves more attention particularly to missions, mining, exploration and trade.

i play maybe once a week. its disapointing how FD only looks after the trading aspect of the game. everything seems to work as intended for traders.

Is trading working as intended now? I've hardly played at all since they "fixxed" it, after spending a few days exploring and searching fruitlessly for a decent route.

Wow, this thread...

I had a bunch points to make. I deleted them. Rather, here is a somewhat related tangent...

I still play. About 3 times a week for 2-4 hours each. When I can, I make a marathon of it, but those are rare occasions like wife travelling or its my birthday.

I've finally gotten to the clipper and love it muchly. With 1.2 out, I need to update my signature :D

New goals are:

1. Get Vulture (nearly there, just a couple more hours trading) and kit it out as a travelling death dealer :p
2. Don't get distracted from #1 by upgrading the clipper (so tempting)
3. Wing up with friends and rake in the bounties
4. Start saving for FDL
5. Also start saving for the Courier....drools

I know I can't stick to these goals...already I'm spending more and more time gearing the clipper for bounty hunting and doing more combat. However, it is nice to have goals, no?

It is probably time to sell the Cobra and the Eagle (my 'murica Viper stays!) but so much nostalgia (Eagles are fun and only my Cobra has a chrome paint job).

Also, Star Citizen has their FPS module coming out this month...will probably sink some time into that. I have a Civ: BE campaign I desperately need to finish. Further, I need to stop procrastinating on my current Tie Fighter mission (IT'S TOO HARD!! :D). City: Skylines is coming out too, so I gotta spend some quality time with the wife building a mega dense city.

GAMES ARE FUN...YAY

There's just really not much to the game if you're not interested in grinding for the sake of getting a more expensive ship to grind some more.

Games are fun, there just isn't much of a game here.

Think about it , I'm sure you will get it eventually.
Sadly, people like that never do. Right up to the point where they get bored and quit themselves, but with goldfish like memories, they've forgotten the comment after about 2 minutes and don't realise they've quit for exactly the same reason.

I don't play anymore.

After a certain recent announcement I uninstalled the game and posted my opinion. but I still browse the forums from time to time just to see whats changing and what people are complaining about this week. ;)

Boo hoo...

One person's boredom is another's entertainment. I can't help the fact that you are surprised that a space trading game is based in buying ships.

EDIT: Also, I don't grind anything for hours at a time...I spend a lot of time bounty hunting and exploring as well. I just enjoy flying in space...thats why I got the game.

still playing...but only 1/20 of before. It feels like a grind party all the time. And now with the new ships, with new ridiculus prices. Yee..fun for those that have no other life then Elite. We other that have to work, have famly. dont have time to get those ships or even wants to grind to them. I have allready started to looking forward other games that will be relesed this year. I think my gametime in this game are dropping very soon to zero.

Well fair enough but it's kind of marketed that piracy and bounty hunting are valid ways of playing the game and that you can pretty much do anything so it is kind of a disappointment everything boils down to "keep thing in centre of screen and maybe push a button depending on which activity you're doing". But yeah, some people love to collect stamps and I don't begrudge them for it, if that's their idea of fun, fair enough. You know what, I'm not sure what your point is....

LOL, then you got the point. My point in my first post was to really not make a point at all, other than I'm still playing. But I'll exit now, I'm not going to contribute anything constructive.

So true. I don't post on the Eve forums, I don't post on the WOW forums, nor the Rappelz forums, or Rust or LOTRO because I don't feel any connection to those games any more. I've not long quit this game but I feel strongly enough that I'd like to see the game become something worthwhile to play, hopefully in the near future. It ties me to a game I played back when I first really started playing games properly on computers. However, this game is an empty parody of the Elite I knew, devoid of depth and adventure, devoid of any real entertainment and nothing but another endless MMO grind fest with boring and unprofitable professions like mining and bounty hunting.

In the original, it wasn't the end game I was interested in. I would make a commander, get him into a nice ship and then have a play for a while and start over again with a new commander using a different tactic in a different area of space. I actually enjoyed building my character up to the best ship fast and just starting again somewhere else but keeping my old commander so I could play where and when I wanted, one explored, another was a pirate, another was a bounty hunter, another ran missions and another was a trader, at least one of them followed the storyline. With only one commander, you can't do that, you're stuck with one profession and a very long grind. If I ever felt like annihilating anything in my path, I just went back to one of the other commanders who had the top ship and weapons in the game. In this way, I played Elite for years from 1984, right up to about 5 years ago. Sometimes, I'd use hacks to get unbelievably long jump ranges just to go exploring. It was a SINGLE PLAYER game so my hacks didn't affect ANYONE else.

I have now played this game for 2 months and I'm already bored with it. But with memories of what I enjoyed in the original Elite, I know this could be a good game but FD don't want to listen to us at all. If they don't buck their ideas up, this game is going to be a huge FAIL.

You just described every FPS.

Not really, there are some nuances to the gameplay in an FPS that elevate it beyond just keep thing in centre of screen. Really Elite is more akin to watching paint dry.

I feel sorry for paying the 50 euros for this one feels like a scum. After a couple of hours in when the WHOA i am finally playing a space sim in PC with other people in you understand that SPACE is really empty.
I mean even if you just browse to the forums you can tell this is a BAD attempt. Pirates that pay small fines for killing ships in policed systems ? I really won't go as far to compare it with EVE but elite dangerous?
All points in this forum and ing are right on. From combat logging to switching to solo (?????), to no missions etc. Everything is valid point. I sincerely believe someone can get the whole experience and get bored just by reading this forum. I guess making 600 billion systems makes it kinda dull in every other aspect. And also a note to all the guys saying GO play another game or things like that it would be valid if this was subscription game or if it even had a demo to see and test.

Who knows maybe in 2 years if the servers are still alive this might become a real game and my 50 euro would get life again.
