the Q2 was the king of bang for your buck... but the RRP went up £100 a few months backAnd what is the best quality/price headset for VR in ED ?
The Quest2 or other ?
Reverb all the way. You'll keep it far longer than any of the emerging competition so from a value perspective it's king. I don't like spending money on tech so I buy at the top of the market and hold onto it for much much longer. e.g. That way I'm spending 'less' money than people who buy the cr@ppy headsets like the Valve Index or anything with 'Quest' in the title ( NB. I know they're actually very good headsets. From a Reverb owners POV, they have horrible displays and I certainly couldn't put up with one now I'm ruined by HP ). I don't see any headsets, even being talked about , e.g. MeganeX, Pico that would make me upgrade whereas if I had any Quest/Index I would be looking at them with a view to upgrading... more money.the Q2 was the king of bang for your buck... but the RRP went up £100 a few months back
now....... it's a closer call. I would take a reverb G2 over a quest now for pure PCVR.
the Pico 4 is also looking very promising but I have not tried one of those yet.
Well, from my point of view, I use the Quest 2 for ED. I have a Reverb G2 also and for sure the HUD is much clearer with that, but performance is worse so I trade off a bit of sharpness for smoother performance. And what is the best quality/price headset for VR in ED ?

Don't use SteamVR at all, it's slow and you have to turn settings down. Use OpenComposite and OpenXR and tweak to your preference. I uninstalled SteamVR about three months ago and have never looked back. I suspect OpenXR might kill it. It's just too easy to develop for, it's OSS, doesn't require compliance to anything 'Steam' and you don't get forced updates whenever it feels like. I'm using it with ED, MSFS and SkyrimVR.have you set up your G2 correctly or tried recently @Faded Glory i only ask because seeing as you have the headsets already.
i have found performance has increased a fair bit in EDO, and if you set your steam VR super sampling to 80% i find performance ok... admittedly i have a 3090, but in reality its only a gnats pube faster than a 3080 in games. (of course if you are happy with the Q2 in elite that is great but would be a shame to miss out on a bettter experience based on an old EDO build.
Not recently, no to be fair. As in haven't tried it recently, I think it's set up correctly as I use it for MSFS which runs pretty well.have you set up your G2 correctly or tried recently @Faded Glory i only ask because seeing as you have the headsets already.

yeah I need to go back to that tbh.Don't use SteamVR at all, it's slow and you have to turn settings down. Use OpenComposite and OpenXR and tweak to your preference. hmm i do have a Quest 2 and seriously considering getting a Reverb G2 ... since I play ED exclusively in VRWell, from my point of view, I use the Quest 2 for ED. My rig is an i7 10700k (I think that's correct), and RTX 3080, 32GB and an SSD, so quite decent. I try not to obsess about things in VR, don't constantly monitor fps use how it makes me feel as an indicator - if I feel queasy then I know it's struggling, and again, with sharpness so long as I can see well, I'm happy (even though I know the Reverb would be sharper). And basically, the Quest gives me smooth performance, good graphics and my machine runs it just fine without a struggle.
So, for sure the Reverb is a 'better' HMD and may give you a much cleaner image, but it requires a good computer to get the full benefit.
