Okay, I've got an idea everyone will love.....
Open gets it's 'open only' bonus, that being an extra 10 credits for every star system scanned in full over 10,000ly from the bubble - deal?

I have seen a lot of posts about adding increased rewards to counter the increased risk of playing in Open.
These are usually shouted down by people who feel that this shouldn't be the case or by others who come up with elaborate reasons why it would be exploited. Some even claim they would modify the settings in their router to achieve this.
So giving that it is a given that the general populous feel that an increase in rewards for Open play is a no go, there is a simple answer that so far appears over looked.
Nerf rewards in the other modes!
This way, there would be no exploitable credit mechanics for those playing in open!
Basically you have fixed the game.
Plays who play with a lower risk, get a lower reward.
People who play in the main mode get the standard rewards.
Its a simple solution to an on going problem.
Should organise an elite group of noble top rated commaders to for a couple of 'anti-griefer' squadons, to patrol areas where players are preyed upon by griefers
Don't know if facetious or not but PvP groups cannot recommend this enough. The only problem up to this stage is that engineering makes it impossible for anything but dedicated PvP players to take a stand against a reasonable gank wing.
Here's to the engineering improvements. Provided they rescind the decision to grandfather modules.
I do wanna see incentives to trade in Open but not sure how we can do it in a way that will be taken on.
I can think of 40,000 (ish) players who would play open in a heart beat - if you remove PvP from it.
Hows that for an incentive![]()
All the clogging gankers do doesn't help much either.

About the OP>
I am intrigued why someone would be so concerned about another player not playing in open, or indeed playing another game – not elite, to the extent that they suggest such players should be penalised for doing so. Fascinating.
There's a fairly vocal group on the forums who don't want this to change, presumably because it benefits their own particular playstyle, even though giving an advantage to playing open to affect the open world would make sense in any other mmo on the market.
The most vocal group is also the smallest group, and they are the ones trying to unbalance the game and demand more fish in their barrels.
It has nothing to do with making the game better and never has
Ha, the game is already unbalanced beyond means, you cannot unbalance it any more.
