Is that meant to be read as american I wonder...
Meaning news 8 january?....if so...daaang
HTC like oculus has mentioned not to expect a vive2/oculus2 anytime soon.
Doubt it will be Vive v2.0... more Vive v1.5.
Still, it'll be interesting to see what pans out at CES.
Somebody on Reddit reckons this is leaked info: Leak: New Vive will use 3.5inch Amoled displays each of which have a 1440x1600 resolution and also have better lenses with bigger sweetspot. Price will be $699 and current gen Vive will drop to $499.
No idea if that will be true or not though.

I hope they use these panels instead.

"A new display from Samsung targeting use in VR headsets packs a whopping 2,024 x 2,200 pixels into a 3.5″ form-factor, delivering an impressive 858 PPI, nearly twice the 460 PPI of the Rift and the Vive. The display is also capable of a 90Hz refresh rate and 100 nits brightness. From a raw pixel-count standpoint, Samsung’s new VR display has 3.4 times the number of pixels in those headsets."
A few simple photos from a Reddit user back then.

Fingers crossed, I hope this is an upgrade that can be applied to existing Vive headsets, instead of just a new retail product. That would be swell.
Indeed, and I don't expect otherwise. I just want something to tide me over until the pimax8k is ready, so it'd be neat if there was an upgrade applicable to existing hardware (Vive/Rift)Highly unlikely..
I believe those panels are a little ways off yet.
Well, the new unit might not be available now. It might be an announcement of a coming product.
