I am worried about the game's lifespan

With the new pack, we apoarently covered South America. If 4 animsl packs continue to be the trend, we would've the world "covered" in a short while, with only ~100 animals at the end of it.

The focus on scenery pieces really makes it feel like a theme park game instead of a zoo.

I am excited for this pack and love the animals (especially the anteater) but it does have me worried for the future of the game.

On what basis do you think that animals will stop being released once each continent is covered? Just because the (only 2) packs thus far have done this doesn't mean its the only type of DLC that will be delivered - I think that, once the world is 'covered' we'll likely see DLC with different focuses - e.g., biomes (desert pack, grassland pack etc.), species types (e.g., cats, birds etc.), and maybe status (e.g., endangered pack). At the end of the day, content will continue to be released as long as it is in Frontier's financial interest to keep releasing new content...

I second your concerns. And it's actually the "huge" and "generoc" naming of DLCs that makes me believe that, indeed, we won't get many DLCs. I would think otherwise when they would concentrate on regions and not continents, but the focus on continents make the DLC feels "finished".
I know Planco had a long life span. But my theme park enthusiasts forgive me, but in my opinion, there is more variety in animals in zoos than there is in rides in a theme park. Plus, coasters were completly customizable. Wecan not customize animals (the main atraction of a zoo) to make parks moredivers.

As I said in another thread, my signature makes clear that this is and probably willbe (for a lng time) my favorite game. It's just right up my alley. I'm willing to supprit Frontier for 20 DLCs and more. However, the current marketing of the game makes me feel like we are really talking about having just a handful of animals at the end of the game support. It's a bit sims style, with the difference that at least Frontiers DLCs are their moneys worth.(They definately are!)

Just want to jump in quickly and say that we've got an amazingly talented and dedicated team continuing to work on Planet Zoo! Same as with Planet Coaster, we're very dedicated to our games and our communities <3

Take care!

Thanks for the response Bo! It is so fun to have a way of interacting with the team and the devs. I love this game and play it everyday, and I can't wait to get the capuchin and the anteater.

I am just a little worried when looking at the predicted final animal roster.

I'm glad you read our feedback and give responses to our questions.

Thanks for the amazing game and the new DLC!

Indeed, this is my main concern for the game. Hope we get more animal quantity in the future.

Not trying to be rude, but how was that a response to the raised concern though?

To be fair, Bo knows a lot more about the future of Planet Zoo than we do, but even she doesn't have a crystal ball (I assume ;) ) . The future of the game and how long it will be supported will in the end also be based on how well the DLCs sell. I think DLCs are planned until the end of the year, but at this point, there are probably no plans for 2021 already. They will come, but I doubt they are there. So it might actually be that after 2020 our concerns can actually be considered - but not sooner.

I share your concern on this point. We definitely could do with some more practical pieces and things to make realistic zoo enclosures and animal housing.

But... we literally have no idea what they have planned for us. As someone who has pretty serious anxiety and mental health issues I advise people who are worried about the future of the game to focus on what we do have. Enjoy the animals, scenery and foliage and do your best to live in the moment.

I find it useful to look at my anxieties and consider what is real and what is not. What is possible versus what is actually probable and most of all, what I can control and what I cannot control.

Another point. Zoo developments generally happen quite slowly. So build what you can now and enjoy it. And when new developments become possible or new animals arrive, incorporate them at that point. That’s my plan anyway. I’m aiming to have a zoo that grows slowly over time like real zoos do.

I’ll never say this is just a game. Games are more important than ever in bringing light, community and distraction to our lives. But let’s just have a bit of perspective and enjoy what does come.

And once again, we have no idea what animals or packs will come out in the future. We might not get exactly what we want but we will certainly get some beautifully made animals and I’m pretty sure there’s a lot ahead to be excited about.

Explain this "logic" to us. I think assumptions like these, are really not helping.

Fully agree with this..

While we cannot give a direct response and make someone's concerns magically disappear, the least we can do is acknowledge that we have seen and read this thread, and assure people that we are dedicated to Planet Zoo for a long time! I don't see how that's a bad thing on our part, especially when our updates always include community feedback as much as possible? Thanks!

The idea that any company will stop making DLCs just because they run out of continents is extremely silly, to say the least.

If the DLCs keep making money and the company has the manpower and desire to make new DLCs, they will. If they don't, they won't. They aren't going to run out of potential names any time soon.

Not only that, but worrying also gives stress. And that is something I don't think I need when it comes to a game.

I fully agree. Particularly if the worries are based on assumptions that are based on two DLCs. Two data points don’t define a trend or have any statistical value. I prefer to be happy with the DLC so that I can enjoy it fully. I have full confidence in Frontier that they still have a lot of great things in stock for us.

If everybody hypes up their own expectations with so many speculations of what animals and how many animals we might get (or even worse: we should get), of course, a lot of people will be disappointed. Keep your expecations from flying away and keep enjoying the game. I definitely will!

Eh they are not really overpriced. You can't get that much for that price these days (maybe one meal, not even a movie ticket). I think it's a very fair price and i know that it will give me many many hours of fun. But if you think they are not worth it, don't buy it, simple as that

Don’t feed the trolls. They just want to goad you into replying. Just ignore them.
