I am worried about the game's lifespan

With the new pack, we apoarently covered South America. If 4 animsl packs continue to be the trend, we would've the world "covered" in a short while, with only ~100 animals at the end of it.

The focus on scenery pieces really makes it feel like a theme park game instead of a zoo.

I am excited for this pack and love the animals (especially the anteater) but it does have me worried for the future of the game.

Thats the point. I said that in one of my threats too.
PZ is going to be a Building Simulator and not a Zoo Simulator.

And I am worried too.
If the Continent "South America" is now finished with only 5 animals..i have no hope for the future ones....
There were sooo many animals in south america but you choose only 5?
And the Lama?
Only in one colour?
There is no much love in generate new animals.
So much people wish more colour variations...but this we dont get till now...

I personally would not worry based on that logic. For example planet coaster had a series of "theme packs" with a handful of rides. It also went on to have ride packs, with rides that could have been in those themes. Cross over pieces between themes and of course the Ghostbusters pack which was completely different and had a story mode, plus scenary and rides. Anything is possible basically.
