I Died to an NPC :(

From my reading of the OP it seems that he was trying to escape from the Python after being interdicted. If Type9s can't ever escape from such an encounter then who'll want to trade in one alone? (sadly we don't have the NPC Wingmen discussed in the DDF)

Agreed.

This is what worries me about the planned updates to the AI. There are many players who trade with lower grade shields and no weapons in T-9s and other slow ships. If there's not a decent chance in escaping from an interdiction then this kind of trading will no longer be an option.

Yes, the Python interdicted me, I've only got D equipment on the Type 9, I haven't been able to fight an interdiction yet, but the problem was the mass lock.
I didn't realise a Python mass locks a Type 9.
My 6D shields were down in a few seconds.

It was a Deadly Python Adjuster. The Adjusters have been attacking me outside stations too, there have been so many of them.
Most of you probably aren't lucky enough to get attacked by the Adjusters :)

Who in the vacuum are 'Adjusters'?

Re AI, yeah, they improved. But one still has to find himself hugely outnumbered and outgunned to get blown up. I pulverised a Novice Asp - Dangerous Asp - Deadly Vulture wing the other day, didn't even have to pop a cell bank. Sure, my Python was armed to teeth but still, you'd expect that kind of line-up make a dent.

Nothing to be ashamed of.
I believe the AI has been beefed up considerably compared to what it was.

I was in my Python and I took on x3 winged Vipers (Dangerous) the other night and found myself having to flee with my tail between my legs..
45% Hull damage after only taking one down.. *Yikes!
I've manage to successfully kill x3 winged Cobra's with same ship, so I was surprised these Vipers fleeced me so quick.
Not my finest hour.

I like the challenge they currently present, keeps me frosty..

then increase shields. I see your point on not having weapons.... if they are turd and you just want to run anyway, but, if you have potentially almost 500 tons of cargo and your only option if it gets sticky is to run, then imo you need to lead belly your ship as much as possible... yes better shields may lower profits a tiny amount, increasing your armour may decrease your jump range, but if you want to play as a lone wolf (which is generally how i play too) then you kind of owe it to yourself to do what you can imo.

IF even with decent shields and armour and you are not doing an anarchy run you are still facing a death sentence despite trying to run sensibly then I can see there may be a problem but generally imo up until possibly now the AI have been pretty slack outside of some of the signal sources.

You probably got lucky to be honest. (or have much better flying skills than I do) I'm combat pythoning for quite a while now, and that sounds like a 1 scb group. Then again I use scbs at 1 ring.

I'm sorry... I shouldn't grin at this... :D (laughs wickedly as she resumes her work on the new, much better tactics) I just know someone's gonna tell me to tone this down one day...

Most certainly dont tone the AI down.

I did think the ALD adjusters would leave me alone after killing me.

They really know how to hold a grudge.

It may have something to do with the fact that particularly Asps and Vultures are just flying power plants :D. They all went to meet their maker at some 40% hull IIRC.

I surely hope not.

I lost an Anaconda to NPCs in a CZ. I thought I could keep fighting after the shields went down.
"NPC's dont deserve too many Cell Banks anyway" I said to myself.

They focused the thrusters and then, maybe from indirect damage, the PP was destroyed quite fast.
I got nuked and it was awesome, finally it didnt feel like an easy grind. Last time I was on my toes like that was in a 4v4.

I think it's cool to have these aggressive, hardcore NPCs, at least in certain areas / instances.
They can be an incentive to wing up if they're hard to solo.

I rather trade in a python then a type-9. On a side note i had i pirate sidewinder attack me when i was going to a station. Guess npc will stalk you now. Security forces killed him.

I'm ashamed to admit it. Might be time to uninstall.

He seems to be spawn camping me now. Just got interdicted by the same Deadly Python, barely escaped the second time.

I just bought a type 9, I wont lie, I'm not impressed with its combat capabilities.

Did you try dropping a few cargo cannisters to distract him while you made your escape?

They do stalk - I've had a number of particularly enthusiastic NPCs follow me from the star to station (through interdictions and low-wake following) only for the station to dispense justice in the end. Really liking the persistence that they can show - and grateful that not all NPCs show such persistence....

Some time ago I had an NPC trying to interdict me a couple of times and when I escaped, he followed me to the station and deployed a bunch of Mines, practically in front of me. Is that something NPCs do, or did I evade a CMDR without noticing?

Haha, no need to feel ashamed OP, the AI deadly rank is much harder now, i almost died to a Deadly rank Anaconda, in my trading Anaconda, i actually battled him, i thought i could win, almost did but .....

In what relation? Are they subtracted? So, when a Courier attacks an Hauler, there's the value of the larger ship (Courier 7) minus the mass factor of the smaller ship (Hauler: 6), ending up with a mass lock factor of 1 towards the Hauler? 7 - 6 = 1?
Or rather, is the mass lock factor automatically applied as soon as there is any difference? So, when an Adder attacks an Hauler, the Hauler is mass locked by the factor 7, simply because the Adder is slightly heavier?

I never really understood the whole mass lock business. All I know is that it appears to be distance independent, with a hard set border where mass lock magically stops.

Are you sure it's up to date? Wasn't there something done to FDL, a nerf?
