I hope DW2 gets ganked all the way to Beagle Point.

It's been pointed out in the past that "Dangerous" in "Elite:Dangerous" does not refer to the risk level of the game, but to the combat rank. And there's a quote from David Braben somewhere on Redit (I think) to support this.
It does always amuse me that this concept of Dangerous rank being a gateway was important enough to make it into the subtitle for the entire game ... while simultaneously so unimportant that we're over four years in and it's still not actually implemented (Lori Jameson does something related, I guess)

You seem to confuse correlation and causation. People might be playing in open for other reasons than
seeking PvP.

I'm playing in open not because I'm interested in PvP, but to see players and do PvE coop.

If there was an open server with restricted PvP (wanted or PvP flag), IMO the split would be 95%/5%.

People have their personal reasons to play the game that are irrelevant because Open is not restricted to how players want to play but how they can play according to FDev.

While i'am mostly interested in PvP, i'am not (maybe like the majority of players) asking for the game to be restricted only towards what i am interested in. If i wanted that, i would create a PG which has been provided by FDev for this reason.
I'am happy if people enjoy new stuff like recent new mining and exploration gameplay even if i am not particularly interested in this type of gameplay. I am not asking for them to stop playing how they want nor FDev to restrict them in order to fit my expectations/desire.

Asking for an Open PvE only is exactly the same has asking for an Open PvP only server : a nonsense.

I agree that the rules of a PG should be respected. I don't get as jacked out of shape about invasions as most people seem to, but I certainly would never break the rules of a PG, nor do I think most PvPers would. As far as I know of, there was only one instance of PG ganking yesterday, a single CMDR going rogue as it were. Hardly even a blip, really, in the grand scope. Plenty of carnage in Open, of course, but there it's the rule of the jungle.

I wish all gankers had your opinion on PGs and all PvErs wouldn't throw together ganks in open and infiltrating PGs.

Yep I don't wish to kill people in PG's. I just wish they respected the same in return and attacked player groups or powerplay in Open so we can engage each other.

I sure see the reason why some would like to gank a PG because of it. I've thought about doing it myself.

But whats the point in doing something like that?

Anyways, just a buncha dudes going exploring doesnt even touch my radar. Unless they are trying to data bomb somewhere.

I support the flag method with certain things raising the flag automatically, namely...

Being in a hostile control system while pledged
Being wanted for murder anywhere (players only)
Being in a populated Anarchy system
Transporting anything from an approved list of 'piratable materials', which includes most of the high value stuff.

That last one's contentious, but you can't kill pirating...maybe keep the list specific, anything of equal or higher value than platinum, for example.

It needs to be fair to PvEers, but also to PvPers, compromises and all that.

Yeah, I honestly like this solution a lot.

A sensible post, I agree with this.

How fast does your Adder go? That's the big thing; raw speed and agility, coupled with a teeny profile makes you really hard to hit, much less kill.

Last time I played, I was hitting 700+ with 10t of cargo loaded.

I disagree with flags in open. This would feel to artificial and gamey for me. I am all for more options for owner of Private Groups. Give them a checkbox to turn player to player damage on/off in theire groups.

There was an adder trolling us yesterday. Couldn't catch it.

He was gweefing us and we cried.

Are you serious ? Do you really want to force explorers to fit HRP's and Large shields with the PP that goes with it ?

A security detail would arrive exactly at the right time for the gankers : too late.

But more than that : does gankers in such event provide any interesting content ? IMO nope. They are negative value parasites.

My combat explorer fit Krait Phantom has done just fine so far. 43ly jump range, and snuffs out typical explorer fit condas in seconds.

So you can go to another PMFs home system, murder the local security forces over and over in front of them and they cant attack you? Hmpf. :/ This is the issue I have with this stuff. Attacking a player in a high-sec system should result in your destruction, I dont mind that. But allowing people to smuggle in drugs and weapons to an opposing faction, murdering traders of a faction you support and all of that should come with the risk of being attacked by someone else. It seems very 'eat the cookie and have it too'...

After watching what some people who made their money the fast way thought would be an exploration conda through the last week, that doesn't take much.

OTOH, how does dual Pacifiers, 590 m/s boost at ~50 ly in a mining build sound? Drop the scoop and the booster for 40ish ly and 128 tons of cargo space. Poor shields, though.

Infiltrating a PG to cause harm is unacceptable for me, and I hope there will be consequences.

consequences are up to the pg owner and cap at expelling any offending player from the group. frontier has nothing to do with this, this 'replacement' thing must be a hoax. dunno if it it's more fishy than cheesy or the other way around, but it would be another hallmark of frontier's wrecked 'community nurturing' strategy.
