I hope DW2 gets ganked all the way to Beagle Point.

If the PG's rules actually prohibited PKing, then player damage would be turned off. But it is not turned off. So PKing is perfectly fine despite the arbitrary rules. It is incumbent on the owners of the PG to kick from the group people who PK. It is not incumbent on FDev to do so.

It is not incumbent on them (FD) but since they have free will and this is their game they might reasonably take the view that it is justified in this case. Or not. Kinda up to them to decide, not for mere mortals like you or I.

Im a mobius carebear ever since i heard it existed...

But something feels really wrong about frontier offering to restore player ships.. its just a little bit too god hand. It doesn't feel right.

I understand that someone said somewhere that pvpers used the sale to buy throwaway accounts just to troll people going.. but it may have been a better experience to keep people aware it may happen rather than padded walling it.

Its not wrong given there's no pve mode but its not right either. Frontiers customer support team are the only group left who exceed expectations so poor them.

Yeah depending on how many trojan players are actually going along..

Weren't they organising a whole heap of support commanders for dw2.. why not a protection squad as well. I always remember there were angel combat groups as well as troll pvpers.

I would assume yes, also assuming your PG has 11,000 players organised in a major event that garners gaming-press attention.

I agree with this, there is some motivation to ensure this event is enjoyed by all. PvP can happen in Open, and those events may create entertaining stories. Different types of entertaining stories aimed at different types of players will no doubt happen in the PvE groups.

Agree with your whole post, but the notion of protection escort pilots was always a fantasy

It's impossible to keep paper thin explo ships with combat unskilled CMDRs alive against the pack of wolves that were out there, many perished to a single volley and/or ram

As it is I haven't seen/heard about a single actual escort combat ship doing anything, although I suppose that doesn't mean they didn't try

Imagine if people weren't literal tools at every single player driven event. We talk about needing PvE Opens and such but what if these people in question simply had fun by participating in a way that's not detrimental or counter-productive. Going all pew pew in an Exploration-orientated event isn't emergent gameplay / narrative. It's being "that guy" for nothing more than kicks.

I personally applaud FDev (for once) for restoring ships and data in the event of PKing during DW2. This is supposed to be a peaceful cooperative event, and all possible precautions have been taken, and they’re not going to put up with any from ne’er-do-wells this time.

I think they should go one further and automatically eject the offender from the group on the spot, and send thrm back to the Bubble.

I find this perspective completely valid, yet completely outside of the game as it is designed. If there are PK players lurking in a PVE exploration group, and they PK, there literally is no in game mechanic to prevent them from doing it. There is an in game mechanic for purging the PK player from the PG, but that is all. This special restoration treatment by FDEV is truly breaking the rules IMO to create a defacto actual PVE server.

Mobius and its sisters police its players and kick those that don't comply, but has FDEV actually restored commanders killed within Mobius by Mobius fakers?

If FDEV restores pilots in Open on DW2, then there really is a stinky mess isn't there? Why should restoration be limited to this event, and not say a CG? Why not for all players in all circumstances?

I just hope that our PK friends be themselves and actually force FDEVs hand in this.

I have no idea how cumbersome it is for and FDEV tech to restore an account, maybe it just places the pilot at the previous system prior to jump.

If it is possible to automate the - "send you back to last jump with your stuff intact", this might be a soft compromise for an OPEN PVE request.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what happens on this journey.

With only a fraction of the logs uploaded from the various members of the Distant Ganks 2, the kill count was over five hundred at the beacon. That is probably only half the total kills for the day. Fdev is going to be really busy replacing player ships.

It’s in a private group, not Open...

How many of those were in Open?
