I like the game.

I agree!!! One of the best games I ever played!!! Closing to 1300 hr after 2 years myself (unfortunately not enough time to play it). I am playing it together with my wife and she loves it too. I bought it for both of us. Also I am a little tired about all of the complaining. It's not perfect but there is no such thing as a perfect game. Every game has flaws but very few games give me the thrill that elite does (I can see how space is and fly a spacecraft and that's absolutely incredibile). I am not a game developer or software developer but as a mechanical engineer which does creative work I understand why some things are as they are and why it is hard to make them different. In the past two years there were many moments when I was confused about all the complaining. I have all the trust that FD will do the maximum they are able to with this game for the sole reason that its impressive and is also a challenge. I think people should relax and just play it. Everybody is looking for the best ship, make more money and be the best (this produces the word grind and the thinking that there is no content). This game is much more then that. It gives you the opportunity to be something else then in real life and experience something that most of us will probably never experience. Sorry if my english is not perfect (not my native language)! I usually just read posts in the forums but this time I also wanted to say what I think. Thank you FD for this game and for the experience that you gave me! Thank you for all the hard work and regardless of anything else you are really doing a great job!

Well said. That perfectly sums up my own feelings about this wonderful game [up]

Yes, I do!

I like the game.
For the most part, I even love it.
And now, with a new graphics card, I believe I love it even more. [yesnod]

In several decades of gaming, there are only a handful of games that commanded so much of my time. Elite Dangerous is one of them.

Yes, I love this game. :)

Quietly Elite has nearly doubled my play time of my second most played game in my steam list (yes, I am a dirty steam player!) The ability to get lost within the universe (galaxy I know, I know) that Frontier have created is my ultimate escape and I love it. Could it be better? Of course. But so could chocolate cake. Doesn't mean I love it any less! :)

Love the game. I have played a lot of different video games, I have a very broad range of experience with many different genres and hands down Elite: Dangerous is (in my opinion) the best. And it is only getting better and better all the time. I am continually blown away by how incredible the game is. I could literally speak for hours about all the intricate details that make me love it so :)

Thankyou, and keep up the stellar work FDev o7

I was expecting a big BUT (fnarr fnarr) at the top of your post, hoping for something more positive, and chuffed by what I found. Have some rep CMDR.

So, since you're presuming what I'm really saying, I guess you get a reply:

I've been trying not to go too deep into what I like and don't like because we have 094327-07234578-98234502345-1234`tr123 threads about what this game REALLY needs to be perfect. I just wanted a light thread telling the Devs that I like the game. It's nice that quite a few people have piled on. I'd really rather not list out the problems.

What I will say is that I did indeed post this because I think there should be some balance with the negativity. There are *always* posts on this forum with feedback and recommendations. These are *usually* on a positive slant with only a few negative comments. Recently with the purchasable content and then the multi-crew payouts there have been a bunch of really vicious posts about how horrible FD are and how they can't drive their own game. This is ridiculous. FD have been at the wheel the whole time and they've gotten us to where we are. The game isn't perfect but I like it. I've played it for more hours than any other game I've ever owned. Much like I might post on my friend's wall if they're having a bad day at work, I felt the need to post here.

By all means, post feedback, constructive criticism, and design ideas (preferably in a thread that already exists for such a topic).

A post which says "I like the game" is about as useless to the developers as one that simply says "I hate the game."

Unfortunately, because of the way you worded your OP, that's what this thread will amount to; a lot of confirmation bias from people who think that because they enjoy the game, anyone with a complaint isn't worth listening to (which is not true) and/or that everything's fine, situation normal (which it isn't).

So instead of a bunch of patronizing pats on the back for the developers, maybe express why, specifically, you like the game so they can understand what works when compared to what people don't like?

This thread is exactly what it's supposed to be. In fact, it's more than I was expecting. When I posted it I wanted it to be nothing more than a small pat on the back for the devs.

In order for there to be confirmation bias there would need to be some facts. There are none. Just a few dozen people saying that even in spite of the mountains of negative posts over the last few days, some of us are still happy with the game in its current state.

Posting detailed criticism, constructive or otherwise, invites others to debate my criticisms. There are many, many threads for that here. This thread (at least my intent for this thread) is not to be a detailed review or debate about past or upcoming Dev decisions. Just a light-hearted thanks for the game I like to play.

You misunderstood the OP completely.
This is not about the game, really. More about the forums and how people tend to give their feedback.

Yes, "I like the game" is equally worthless for devs as "I hate the game". (Well, not really. It's always better for the devs to see someone who likes what they're doing than otherwise. Motivation and all that, right? But yea, I get what you mean.)
But that's exactly OP's point. He doesn't talk about criticism on the forums. He talks about negativity.
And negativity on the forums must be countered by positivity. How ever meaningless. Therefore this thread. :)

Posting a general positive statement doesn't keep me from expressing some critics here and there but doesn't need to be done in any other thread.
So just relax and don't interpret too much into the OP. No one in this thread says the game is perfect or has no issues.

He gets it.

Exactly.
Actually most post it this thread start with "This game isn't perfect, but..." :D

Here here OP! Totally agree. Let the trolls troll and the haters hate. I just wish when I add these people to my ignore list the forum threads they start would also be ignored. Negativity & ignorance of some of these people is mind boggling!

I hope everyone at Frontier knows that there are many more of us who adore the game, who have spent countless hours of enjoyment playing.

To Frontier Dev team - have a great weekend and thanks for all the working bringing happiness to so many people around the world!

Can I put my 2 bit in? can? Can I?

I played STALKER for 2 years without a break. I still love the game. I played Witcher 3 pretty much the same way. Haven't played since I got Elite Dangerous. What does that tell you?[up]
