I like the game.

Here's another one who likes the game! :)
Only one other game (TrackMania :D ) got a similar amount of my time as this one.
It really is a gem!

So much negativity recently. :(

I know this post won't get many replies and will fall off the front page, but hopefully Ed and the rest of FD may see it.

I'm nearing 1300hrs in the game. I like it. That's not to say there aren't things that I find frustrating. Some things are too easy, other things are hard. But it's a good game.

Thanks.

I'm very similar. Great game, it has its faults but so do I

I also like this forum, or I wouldn't be here.

Enjoy what you have

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... +rep.

I always sound so cynical all the time, but +1.

5W 4D played, so, obviously, I enjoy it. Thanks for never giving up on Elite, Mr. Braben.

Ever since playing the original Elite on a C64 back in '86, this has been my gold standard. The kind of game I'm always looking for.

Is modern Elite my new gold standard? Not yet.

What I love most about Elite Dangerous is its potential. By design, the game is not anywhere near finished. We're on version 2. By the time version 10 comes out, it may very well be the game of my dreams. Maybe even by version 4 or 5. This is why I bought the lifetime DLC deal. I'm here for the long haul (which will make the Hutton Orbital run look like a walk in the park).

I'm committed. If the game deteriorates or goes off in a direction that seems totally wrong, I'll complain. Politely and with respect.

Right now we have the skeleton of a great game. A whole galaxy to play in. A galaxy that needs to be filled with a wide variety of content. New players need to understand that if they're not quite satisfied now, they should take a break and come back when more gets added to the game.

Negativity is sometimes bred from love. Don't take it personally.

My wife isn't perfect either but I love her nonetheless for 46 years now (and somehow I doubt I could love a perfect women if such a being actually would exist).

No seriously, if I play a game for 2.5 years excessively with no end in sight there can't be all wrong with that game...

23 years here and I can honestly say that my wife is perfect. By that, I mean she puts up with me. Takes a strong woman to do that. ;)

And this, in a way, stretching definitions just a little bit, is the ultimate truth. [yesnod]

There has been occasions, where decisions made by FDev, have made my blood boil.
Occasions where sentences like "oh my having-sexual-intercourse God" - or similar or better - have passed my lips.

But only love can make a heart pump like that.
This game would never make me curse - and curse again; if I did not have the passion for it.
If it had not touched me pretty deep.

And as some extremely old song puts it; Only Love Can Break your heart. [yesnod]

So; when several participants of this forum scream in agony, because others scream in agony about the game; there is no real need to be overtly worried.
It is love that goes around, for the most part. [yesnod]

Umm, no?
Negativity never helped anyone. We have what we have because of the criticism and bug reporting and because the devs are actually listening to us. ;)

Many people actually do perceive criticism as negative. As far as negativity never helping anyone, it's kept me out of some trouble.

The way I would word it is: "Some people tend to give feedback and criticism in a negative way"
That is true. Though if that negative criticism still have some points that can help, I'm fine with it. And so is Frontier, apparently. But most of the negativity OP is talking about are just pointless "This game sucks, nothing works the way I want it to" posts. Those aren't criticism. Those are just unhelpful opinions.

If someone has a problem with how things work, they can provide feedback. Whether they will do it in a civilized manner or not is up to them and their level of intelligence, but either way their posts will be equally helpful.

Not so much for the negativity.
