Perhaps we are missing the root of the issue. There simply are not enough options for long range exploration ships. Sure we have over 10 options for medium combat vessels, but we have 1 small, 1 medium, and 1 large exploration ship capable of long range jumping. How about a few more options? IMO that is what the OP was about.
Exactly. Many explorers really don't care much about "fast travel", yet they crave ships with the highest of jump ranges. The reason is not speed, but rather reach. Being able to fly to those systems which most ships with lower jump ranges simply can't get to.
We just want more ships with a similar jump range of the Anaconda. More options for ships to fly.
Take a look at the stats on ship choices for the upcoming DWE2:
Anaconda: 683 (42%)
Asp Explorer: 503 (31%)
DBX: 114 (7%)
Imperial Cutter: 62 (4%)
Python: 30 (2%)
Imperial Clipper: 29 (2%)
Orca: 27 (2%)
All other ships: 207 (10%)
The first DWE had an even worse ship spread:

THIS is why so many explorers want more ship choices, meaning ships with competitive jump ranges. It's all about choices.
