With no warning whatsoever, my SRV going 40 kph with full shields and 77% hull health exploded.

Spontaneous SRV explosions are a known issue. I suggest reporting in the below thread and if you are exploring, pack your hull with as many SRVs as you can manage because you will bur through them if you do a lot of landings.
