Horizons I "May" Have Found A Barnacle - SRV Destroyed in the Process

Reporting in from 34.0432 118.2672 on Pleione 6 - There was a wreck with a large number of sentries nearby, but nothing else of immediate interest at the coordinates.

on 34.04 -118.3 nothing of manually placed... A small crater and a plain all around. no POIs

Not sure why you wanted positive on one and negative on the other, the original post about that was positive on both. I checked both negative and both positive, nothing.

I looked around the area too and wasn't able to find anything out of the ordinary. One thing I did notice when flying in is that the blue star coming over the horizon causes a green glow on the ground in some of the higher, rocky areas. The area certainly looks like the area from the barnacle scene in the trailer and the gravity is about right.

"try these coords: 34.0431, -118.2672" seems pos and neg....

are the coordinates correct?

Oh, I thought you were wedieyounge. In that case, I should be asking him why he listed one positive and one negative :p

EDIT: Since there has been some confusion, wedieyounge had simply listed the numbers from this post incorrectly. Nothing more.

Exploding For-No-Good-Reason SRV's unfortunately sounds like a known reported multiple times bug. I sure do hope that FD fixes this one, because I'm planning to only bring one with me on the Distant Worlds expedition. Would hate to revert past Sagittarius A* just for a SRV.

In-game bugs doesn't make hunting any easier.

Good luck hunting :)

I'm not giving up yet, I still saw something that I haven't seen anywhere else before. I'll probably be staying here for a couple of days.

I landed at the exact co-ordinates in the OP and drove round for a bit but didn't see anything apart from a crashed NAV Beacon and a crashed space probe.

Unfortunately I need to go to work now. Safe flying and good hunting CMDR's.

We found a massive wreck at coords: -28.1850 -114.4930
There was nothing there that could have destroyed an SRV that quickly though, and that signature is actually a lot larger than what I saw.

That's where I landed and I didn't see anything of the like from the ground. From the air yes there are some landmarks that I missed.

Self-compusting SRV is a known issue. Bug.
Many commanders including myself have experiences these many times already.
Good luck with the hunt.

Well with the extended search finding nothing other than a crashed ship, and on account of it being 3:00 AM here, I'm going to head to bed for the night. I'll continue searching in the morning over a broader area of the planet. Also, I apologize if I caused a small frenzy on Pleione 6. To be honest I didn't expect this many people to take notice this late at night, and I never intended this to turn into the large scale search that it did.

Anyway, good night and fly safe CMDRs!

-Cheers! :D

Hi everyone! So about 35 minutes ago I was doing what hundreds of players have been doing ever since Horizons came out, I was exploring the Pleides Nebula with an ASP Explorer and an SRV looking for Barnacles or other signs of alien structures. After landing on Pleione 6, which is the 5th world I've explored so far, I found two data points and was going towards what looked like another; the radar signature was taller than what other structures usually are though. Anyway, after nearing to a point where I could actually make out a definite non-natural structure (Can't really specify on details, it looked somewhat like one of the spires in the video, but I can't say for sure), something very strange happened. With no warning whatsoever, my SRV going 40 kph with full shields and 77% hull health exploded. There were nothing on the minimap when it happened, no grey dots, no yellow dots, nothing. There was no projectile, and nothing to suggest any hostiles in the area. Now, while I wasn't able to record the coordinates of where my SRV was, I can say that when I returned to my ship it was in orbit of the planet at the coordinates:

-28.2180
-114.4000

I'm not sure what significance these coordinates have in comparison to where my SRV was, but it's all I have to give. The first data point I found (and where my ship was landed) was a white pole with a long orange cap on the top surrounded by a few buildings. If you find a data point that looks like a white and and red sphere in the ground (the second data point I found), you should be able to go by heading 205 (90% sure on that number) or follow the tall signatures on the radar to get to the point where I was destroyed.

Also please let me know if anyone else has experienced this weird exploding SRV thing - it could just be a glitch and what I found could have been a crashed ship, but for now I'll get another SRV and see what I can find myself.

-Cheers! :D

Hi, where do you find the co-ordinates? I zoom into the planet and still I do not see co-ordinates when i move the mouse pointer around.

You know SRVs just explode sometimes for no reason, right? It's a known bug, the SRV should be recalled at some point for to fix that and the faked emissions tests.

GUH! you could have said there were 40odd unknowns there, gotta scan all them blighters before i can drop in and get the buggy blown up

or just count 6 along the system map DOH

Just been there....met an Anaconda pilot (Elite as well!! Never met an Elite before - been killed by a few (Dang them)) anyway....didn't explode. Kitted out with 6 buggies just incase. You must have happened across a bug as I was (must say I was a little dissapointed that I didnt explode in a blaze of sparks. But thems the breaks I suppose.

Soldier on my ol' sausage - see you on the other side.....

ya there were just a couple of wrecked ships when i looked last night. the "wierd" signal he was chasing was the same signal you get for a ship.
