Ships I need your help building an AX Ship and go for the goids

Hmmm … I’m starting to think this whole FAS plan might be ill conceived … although I am only building it to fight Scouts - I’ll go for something bigger if I get brave enough to take on the bigger ones!
If you want safe Scouting just bang 4 turreted AX multis on an Annie, easy job but the fun will wear off.
It does mean however you can explore the combat areas in relative safety untl you find your feet.

bigger isnt always better. stick with your fas. see how you go. ive gone through five different ships now and i'm back to the one i started with... oh bear in mind... annies and bigger are a lot more expensive to fix and rebuy.

Not personally a big fan of the Annie but I do have a Corvette I could do something similar with.

Last time I did AX stuff, I had a Krait MkII with a couple of AX MCs and 2x Gauss running around 600MJ BiWeaves and maybe 3000 hull plus repair limpets. But I fancied something more Agile to get into the Scouts with and also to try out the Plasma Chargers.

Yeh - next time I’m on, I’m gonna try my existing build with shields and see how that goes, maybe switch out some HRPs for MRPs if I find I need to and/or go to shieldless if I find they’re not staying up enough to be worth it. It’s fast enough to run away from just about anything if it turns out to be a liability!!

Im actually dong the same, i had an old Chieftain gathering dust on the carrier and im gong to fit some shards too it for some fun.
Never soloed an Interceptor before as i wasn't really into AX combat, i just did scouts when they gave decent exp to grind that last 10% to Elite.
Going to give it a shot and build something new as i have some old CG Gauss Cannons laying around 😜

I agree I have a strange manner and translation. But it was just an attempt to help him, and he accepted it.

The main opponent alone is Basilisk, as only he has speed 530.
There's only a couple that might out run basilisk. Mamba and phantom. They are both good in a cz but more difficult to take on interceptors solo.
 
Did FDev actually fix the Low Emissions mod? Bc when last I looked (over 1.5 yrs ago), it was a trap option that simply didn't work as advertised. In fact, a "LE" PP would often run hotter than an Armoured one. The reason was, iirc, that LE reduces the max power output, but the heat is proportional to the percentage of max power used.

Long story short never use LE, just use Armoured, that gives you extra power and runs cooler and has higher integrity to boot, which ofc is incredibly valuable for a hull tank.
That’s not true. Heat from the power plant is the total number of MW used multiplied by the thermal coefficient of the power plant. It has nothing directly to do with the percentage of power you use. LE plants drop the thermal coefficient part, and the benefit is that you’ll have a lower baseline heat. You can still overheat with high heat weapons such as Guardian ones, but it takes more volleys to get your heat to the module toasting level.
 
Am I going insane or are there no large AX multi cannons on Jameson Memorial? 1F and 2E are the only ones showing up for me.

Just a thought. I dug a retired python out. I put 2 class 3 turret ax multi. 2 class 2 turret ax multi. 1 class 3 shock cannon gimballed and watch the scouts tumble. Then 2 interceptors jumped in with swarms plus 6 scouts... Took a bit of a kicking then lol.

on the other hand being in a thargoid cz in a scout only ship when the interceptors show up is a bad idea...

No. Chieftain has 3 hardpoints of size 2+. You need one for the Remote Release Flak Launcher if you want to deal with swarms, so two C2 Gauss is the best you can fit.
In a wing - with at least one person who knows their way around a flechette launcher

Two things …

1. You’re right - it musta been 3x C2 Gauss and 1x C1 … but there were definitely 4 and they definitely cooked my ship!!

2. The Remote Release Flechette Launcher is NOT the weapon designed for the swarm? That may explain an awful lot … 😂😂😂
 
Yes, Gauss will do that. You need to be spamming heatsinks. :)

Indeed! I can’t orbit for toffee but firing in banks of two and (especially the new Sirius) heatsinks certainly help.

TBH, lately I’ve been trying the Mod Plasmas and Mod Shards - and think I am setting on the latter as my preferred “anti-heart” weapon, alongside the new EAX MCs for a bit of an all-rounder AX CZ build.

I need to try the Remote Release FLAK Launcher and see if I have any more success against swarms with that …
 
For the shielded Krait (scout killer) build if I need a fuel scoop to get to the area which optional module would you recommend be replaced?
Put whatever scoop you want in then replace the scoop at any nearby carrier/Station with a more appropriate combat module.
