I think we should make certain planet POIs more worthwhile

I am somehow losing the motivation to go and scout for planet POIs, specifically the non-mineral ones. I am talking about skimmers with loot, crashed ships with loot, and everything that basically includes cargo (non-material pickups).

Why exactly do I encounter a bunch of skimmers in the middle of nowhere with some worthless cargo crates. When shooting those flyers in a colonized system I will find myself with a bounty, additionally to having to maybe deal with security ships for a meager maybe... 50k of cargo that I have to manually haul to my ship two at a time and then sell at a station? The same goes for surface mining stations with mineral extractos. They have turrets, and the minerals they bring in are neither worth my time nor my ammo.

It would really be awesome if those POIs would become more desireable to find. Planetary POI data is really hard to get and should appear more often than some stray cargo - additionally, IF we get another exclusion zone with skimmers it would be awesome if it was worth the hassle. Right now it feels like you're loosing time going after the aforementioned POIs, because the time/effort they require does not mirror the reward. They can perhaps seem lucrative to very new players, but I am pretty sure that 90% of people who explore planets are doing so for engineering mats or to find something spectacular, and not some lousy cargo. Adding special loot or, even better, data material points, would make them a lot more rewarding and motivating. Surface mining points could also yield rare materials!

Thanks for reading!

When looking for these POI's enter the red zone and wait for the skimmer text to turn red, you can then attack without gaining bounties against you. In other words let them attack first, problem solved.
Hope this helps....

Thanks for the hint :D. But honestly, that's not the point of this thread, it's about those POIs being unrewarding for the effort. Even if there was no guards around you'd still have to haul the cargo to your ship manually and find a spot to sell the stolen goods, which takes around 12x as long as just flying up to the next wanted guy and shooting him in the face for a 100k bounty or simply honking through some systems to get exploration data to sell.

When I drop onto planets it is usually for materials, but if I come across some cargo I pick and choose. You are right in the fact as a money earner scavenging is quite low on the list.
