If I could only fly one ship, it would be the . . .

The courier is a silly versatile ship that can do soooo many things. From racing/hooning to heavy CZ combat and murdering Thargs :)
Technically the Viper can be engineered to be the fastest ship in the game. The Courier has less maneuverability. Still if a Courier pilot who knows what they are doing versus a Viper pilot who 'thinks' that they know what they are doing never flying a Courier well it might be a bad day for Faulcon deLacy...

Besides it looks great and flies like a military combat jet in the real world.

That is true.
BUT the courier is way more flexible in it's fittings while still maintain a good speed profile. Fast viper can't do anything else as as soon as you start making it combat ready the courier overtakes it in that role.
The courier is just silly in what it can do and do well... outside of mass hauling/trading. I used to love mining in mine for time to time.

Hmm... Vulture or Cobra... Well, I might not like part of the game as much, but I'd like more of it still at least, so yeah...
have to go with the Vulture.

If we were talking 2015 game-play still, then I might have had to go with the Cobra.

Krait Mk2, in a heartbeat.

Honestly, it's kind of disappointing that it's such an easy decision for me to make.
I'm not actually an especially big fan of the K2 but I have a bunch of them for different things so I know that, with one only one ship to fly, I could modify a K2 to do pretty-much anything reasonably well.

Thinking I'll be getting myself one once I get back to the bubble. Have the Phantom which took me to Colonia a few years ago but like what I read and hear abot the II.

One and only one? And completely unoriginal as it might seem going to be either a Python or Krait 2. They can pretty much do it all. Mining, to combat, to passenger/cargo hauling to mission running and exploration.

If limited to one small, one medium, one large, it would be:
Cobra III, because I love it.
Python/Krait2, as already stated.
Anaconda, because what can't it really do fairly well aside from land at outposts?

FDL

I have five fully engineered PvP FDLs.
It is a Prima Ballerina, Sherman Tank and Death Star Arsenal all in one very adorable Pizza Slice Shaped Unit.

One of my FDLs is named, "Evelyn", in honor of Commander Jellowiggler's daughter. It kicks absolute a**. I think Evelyn would have liked it.

:)

[Edit] My "Evelyn" ship has the pink racing paint job, pink weapons and pink engine trails. It also sports the Christmas Tree bobble head all year round because I like Christmas.

OP, If I could fly only one ship it would be in another game which would let me fly lots of ships.

This game is about customizing and flying lots of ships while doing what I want anywhere in the game's galaxy.

Really? what can you do with a Courier? It's basically useless. Sure it's fun the fly but so is the Eagle.
If you wanna impress the women, get a vette.
My daughter says she would pick the Dolphin over any other ship. Hers is called parfum de rêve and she flies it enthusiastically and with great skill, shaking off interdictions like una bella would shake off unwanted attention.

So you ask people what ship they would choose if they could only fly one - and then you criticize them when they tell you .

Python hands down, everything I own was practically built up by my Python including both ranks for the Vette and the Cutter, my Trade Elite status, 28 ships and the 4.2 billion in the bank.
I like other ships a lot too but if I realy had to pick one it would be my trusty Python called "Ranger".
