If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

Try the other thread aswell and look at the picture with the purple gas giants. The argument is pretty simple and not really disputable. FSS is going to kill that exploration.

Which other thread? I’m certainly willing to look, but I’m not about to make a research project out of finding information that is, in all likelihood, just as wrong. But let’s, for the sake of mental excercise, walk through two scenarios:

Old Exploration:

I fly into a new system where I have never been.
I “honk”
My system map is populated with 2 stars and 5 planets.
The 3rd planet is a color I like, so I fly out 86,439 ls, about 6 minutes, after I finish fuel scooping to get a closer look. I see some interesting mountains and some valleys with contrasting colors.
I sit, looking at it, for two minutes while my DSS processes.
I switch to the system map again, tab over and read all the astronomic data which doesn’t mean much to me because I’m not an astro-physicist, but it’s cool data.
I fly down to the planet and spend a few hours cruising low over the surface to see if I spot anything. I dob’t, so I land, hop in an SRV and drive around for a few more hours, and still find nothing, but did take some pretty screenshots.

New Exploration:

I fly into a new system where I’ve never been.
I cozy up to the star to engage my fuel scoop at a rate that keeps my heat at 58%.
I honk.
I’m told there 5 more bodies, aside from the two very obvious stars I can see out my window, and have established an orbital plane.
I pull up my FSS, and start looking around.
I can tell right away, that of the 5 bodies here, two are balls of ice, one is a ball of water, one is a gas giant, and one is a ball of rock.
I like balls of water, so I zoom in. It’s a pretty plain ball of blue water, with a nitrogen/argon atmosphere. Neat.
I look at the gas giant.
It’s a pretty standard brown-banded gas giant if mostly hydrogen, no rings, 22 earth masses, and a big axial tilt. Neat.
I look at the ice balls. Nothing special, though one has pink valleys.
I can’t seem to find the ball of rock. This tells me it’s off the orbital plane. That’s neat.
I keep looking, and my fuel scooping is complete.
I find it, 47 degrees off the orbital plane.
I zoom in, and it’s a blue-grey planet with green valleys, my favorite, so I lick it as a destination, and, in addition to all the rest of the scientific data about the planet’s makeup, it also shows signs of biological life! I’d have gone for a look anyways, because it’s my favorite color, but now I have two reasons to go.
I fly up close, thinking this is where my old DSS would have started, so I slow down, bring up my new DSS, and map this planet two probes under par.

I still see neat mountains and colorful valleys, but I also see where these lifesigns are gathered, so I head that way.
I find a Forrest of Braintrees. Cool!

So, what did I lose? What information did I not get? What died here?

There was, briefly, a version of the ADS that gave us a bunch of unknown bodies in the system map on a honk. If this functionality was restored, those players who don't think twiddling a stupid dial is exploration can go visit these bodies and scan the old way.
None of whatever it is you find enjoyable with the FSS is lost, nor is any of the old way. No advantage to the infinite honk with cherry-picking earthlikes, either twiddle the dial or visit.

The last 200 pages of discussion suggest that the answer to that question is 'No'.

But if people persist in using this one comment about the ADS to explain why the ADS was removed, I'll keep pointing out that it makes no sense.

Why do you need an explanation for something being replaced in an upgrade ?.

Old Exploration:

The old one got to 160 pages before being locked, good luck with that. :p Besides, all the better conspiracy theories (my favourites are 'there is a conspiracy between people who love WW2-era Germany, and the mods to silence the true explorers' and 'people secretly buy many copies of ED during the sale and the DWE2 numbers are fraudulent to pretend the FSS is enjoyed by people!) came after that bizarre topic anyway.

Seven FSS deniers more than eight thousand players signed up for DW2. Deduct one for Harry Potter he's not going to be exploring.

"But those numbers are fraudulent and doctored by genocide lovers who secretly buy many copies of ED to silence true explorers which is the secret agenda of the mods!"

Those fiends, no wonder they are obfuscating the knotty issue of why does old stuff go away and new stuff appear during an upgrade.

Your making too much sense. Not to mention being too logical.
Tone it down a bit.

Sure... Stigbob's 2019 Census Services have determined that there are only 7 people who dislike the FSS... :D

Now try again, but with an actual argument (I know it's hard, as you guys don't really have any).
