If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

There was, briefly, a version of the ADS that gave us a bunch of unknown bodies in the system map on a honk. If this functionality was restored, those players who don't think twiddling a stupid dial is exploration can go visit these bodies and scan the old way.
None of whatever it is you find enjoyable with the FSS is lost, nor is any of the old way. No advantage to the infinite honk with cherry-picking earthlikes, either twiddle the dial or visit.

Interestingly, that's precisely what I suggested many months ago. Unfortunately, players weren't as passionate about it back then *shrug*

Fair enough, I trust them because I like playing their games and think their most recent upgrade was just super and totally free.

That's fair.
Unfortunately, as you may have gathered, I like playing their games but the latest upgrade has removed my ability to enjoy it. Consequently, I'd like to know if they have any plans to alter things in a way that would improve my gaming experience. If the answer is no, then I'd be curious to know why, but I don't NEED to.

Sure... Stigbob's 2019 Census Services have determined that there are only 7 people who dislike the FSS... :D

Now try again, but with an actual argument (I know it's hard, as you guys don't really have any).

Do you think all those thousands signed up to DW2 to escape the FSS ?.

Lots of support in that thread.

It also stands out that back in september people were already calling those who had doubts were not 'proper' explorers. Other denominators were lazy, cherry picking, fast food explorers, among quite a few others. Which is quite ironic given the nature of the FSS. Of course these same people are now arguing how great it is the FSS is saving time on lazy, cherry picking, fast food exploring.

This forum [heart]
Even I am signed up to DW2, if you catch my grip.
I'm not going on DWE2, since I don't believe the FSS exists.

My guess is, it's just pixels.

They explicitly said:"yes we know some wont like the removal of the ADS but we thought about it and decided it is the best for most."

Some just cant take "no" for an answer and keep repeating themselves hoping FD changes their mind.

To be fair, I wonder what response you would expect from players who are't the 'most' there though?

I mean I'll be honest here, when I saw a post from FDev that essentially said 'yeah we did consider your preferred gameplay style and decided 'frak it, it's not worth saving'' it would be fair to say that my own feelings towards them were far from complimentary. That's actually the reason I giggled a bit at some earlier posts in this thread suggesting that players were being cruel and heartless by having a pop at FDev; when you've shelled out for the game, bought Horizons at full price and dropped well over £100 on cosmetics, having the game developers take a crap on the way you played the game and tell you to suck it up isn't really likely to prompt much in the way of positive responses. It's unrealistic to think otherwise.

None of that means they're even remotely likely to change it, I fully accept that. I don't despise the new system at all either, I've said before now that there are scenarios in which I would happily use it, mainly when exploring a particular area of space where I'm on short jumps and scanning everything. Far from increasing the immersion and interactive aspects of exploration though, FDev actually diminished them for me overall because I'll probably never just have a system catch my eye as I'm passing through it on the way to somewhere simply because I'll never see the system map unless I stop to FSS the place.

The one thing I do think was underhand about the way it was introduced though was the complete and utter lack of a proper FF for exploration changes. Instead we got that bag of balls reveal thread , by which time all the significant decisions had already been made. That to me says they knew full well that there would be a degree of resistance so decided to just present it as a fait accompli instead. Their game, their choice, but not an especially great way to go about things in my opinion.
