If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

Remember that whole “adding it back in causing issues” thing I mentioned?

Somebody said “you don’t need to know how it works”
Someone else said something about my analogy being over the top.
Someone else was like “why would anything like that happen”.

Fast forward to today, and yeah, the recent patch probably had nothing at all to do with scanning at all, yet here we are.

Seems I might not have been far off course when I said you can’t just fiddle in Cobra Engine without unleashing the Butterfly Effect.

And I said that because it was Frontier themselves that said it, quite some time ago, during a livestream.

I mean, I wouldn't shove Bakula out of bed for eating biscuits, but I wouldn't suffer an entire episode of Enterprise just so I could check out his package.

One has limits.

I actually liked Enterprise, once they really started going down the Xindi/Builders/Temporal Cold War rabbit hole. I found the story engaging, and never once did Captain Archer look in his mirror and see a woman’s reflection, so there is that.

I couldn't stand to watch more than half a season of Enterprise. I refuse to believe there was a 3rd season of TOS. Discovery isn't Star Trek.

Discovery is good to the extent that it isn't Enterprise. The magic mushroom drive was ... unfortunate.

You wouldn't have Michael Burnham chasing blobs around on a 2D map. She'd be like, bang, I just wrote some code that maps the whole system for us, freeing me up to worry about my identity.

I walked out of the den not quite half-way through S1E1 of Discovery, convinced I would not pay CBS to waste my wasting time in such a manner any longer.

Then Fox gave us The Orville, and television was forgiven.

So, you liked Enterprise because it had female secondary sexual characteristics* in it. And you think the Orville is television.

We are very different people.

Please stick to the topic. We're kinda drifting into pure a pure Trek convo now. ;)

Indeed... wrong kind of heavenly bodies...

So... uhh... FSS is still fun to use for me. Approaching the 40k mark and still happy with it. Haven’t run into the loop glitch yet. Maybe they’ll have it hot-fixed by the time I get home to play.

It was, at least, more compelling than hearing a handful of sticks-in-the-mud whining about a decision that won’t change.

On-topic, I love the new FSS. It makes exploration feel more realistic, and I love the additional information at my fingertips. It’s also far faster, and having the FSS built-in saves a valuable module slot. Now even my combat ships can do some passive surveying without compromising their builds.

My only gripe is that I’d rather not be informed of every single belt cluster I just discovered. Getting 12 audio-visual messages all in a row in a single system gets old pretty fast.

Had the loop-glitch happen during beta, not since. Even in complicated deeply tiered systems, I have so far been free of that issue on the current exploration trip.

And I'm enjoying the FSS too. Great for a quick look at what's in a system, but I still go to the orrery/system map when I'm done scanning and want to set a route for looking closer at things. Still a few issues: I thought notices of biological/geologial features carried over from FSS to system map. Apparently not, so I'm using good old pen and paper to write names of bodies I want to scan. Like the system I am in now: It has a metal-rich body with bio/geo, a ringed metal-rich body with bio, a ringed ice world and a ringed ammonia world near a black hole. So a few sessions of exploration right there!

:D S
