Modes If Open is to get something exclusive then PG and Solo also need something

I'm putting forward a proposal for the following:

Open Power Play Mode : PvP + Power Play
Open Community Mode : PvE + Community Goals

After all, if Power Play is "designed to generate meaningful PvP" then Community Goals are "designed to generate collaborative PvE" - so if Power Play needs to be protected from offline players then Community Goals needs to be protected from PvP players.

Can't give you rep again at the moment, so +1000 units of Cubio Razorback Bacon

Let's just see what they do. If PowerPlay is the only thing Solo loses I can live with that. Myself, I've played Open 99.99% of the time anyway so no real loss for me personally, but but that's going to be a blow to players who can't reliably play Open. Once we get fleet carriers along with squadrons then maybe it can be acceptable. But the BGS (to distinguish that from PowerPlay) should always be affected from Solo, and that includes CGs.

To maintain the idea that all modes are treated equally, in order to compensate for the (potential at this time) loss of PP, PG/solo players need something in return.

My suggestion would be NPC wingmen. Its a long requested feature, and maybe a part of the DDF (?), so why not make it exclusive to PG/solo, where winging up is more difficult or not possible.

Thoughts? What do you think PG/Solo players could get in return?

Something as "good" as Powerplay?
Hmmm. A jar of chewing gum wrappers? A 1980's calculator without batteries?

Honestly, I believed that flying my spaceship by myself in Solo wasn't hurting anybody.
Turns out that it was Godmode, Lording it over those highly skilled REAL players, who were suffering oh so deeply by not getting me to play with, which ruined their expert game experience.

Pfffth.

Just a few suggestions:

- free licence to run blockades?

- exclusive bounty hunting rights in resource extraction sites?

- licence to go and see new tourist hotspots without risk of being ganked?

Sorry, couldn't resist it. :p

oh yeah, let's go "mommy, if my sister gets something I have to get something, too". That might even be a reasonable demand for a 5 year old. But I'm with you for one reason. Everybody should get a lot from the devs. This time around it should be the "open" players [yesnod]

I agree.

If Frontier wants to make PP Open only then they should also implement the very much requested Open PvE mode alongside it.

Mobius has been a crutch for too long. Obviously there is a need for the Open PvE mode being an official game mode selectable from the main menu. Of course players in Open PvE still couldn't partake in Power Play, but at least both subgroups would be gaining something valuable in the game.

Seems like a fair trade to me.

Completely agree here.

Mobius was never intended to be a crutch, but rather it was symptomatic of the original problem- the introduction of Open with absolutely no restrictions to PvP.

A promise made should be a promise kept, if being a 5 year old means you ask someone to keep the promise they guaranteed then I'm a bloody 5 year old.

Damn, that's a harsh burn! Nurse!

If your opinion of PowerPlay is so low why do you care if Solo and PG players get something in fair trade anyway?

Is the cult-like devotion to ‘All Modes Are Equal’ that strong?

I still would like to see someone give solid answers to what the change will add to the game.

I'm not seeing much, except people's perception that PP in Open will be a boon to PVP somehow....and that is only a perception, since nothing will change with PVP...and have little if any change to PP.

How about a way to rank up with the powers to get their modules/unlocks without having to engage in PvP.

I'd really like one of those healing beams!

Go read the Focused Feedback forum post. There’s TONS of excellent reading from the PowerPlay professionals.

Or are you adverse to walls of text all of a sudden?
