If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

I think Most people that complain about the GRIND* in ED never played any MMORPG games before.. they are far worst by comparison ..
Play a game like GW2 and once you are 200hours of game play into Enhancing all your gear and unlocking the top stuff then feel free to complain...
i got most of the guardian stuff in less then 20hours..

ED isn't a grind what so ever.. a little repetitive maybe but far from an actual GRIND.
You can't just say, "Such and such isn't a grind because some other activity takes longer." You have to consider what the player is doing during that time. If I'm doing some activity for 5 hours because the activity is fun and engaging on its own, it isn't really a grind. If I'm preforming a simple, repetitive, mind-numbing task for only an hour where the only thing "fun" is the end reward, it will feel like a huge grind.

Your argument comes down to saying that other games are worse about it so we have no right to complain about ED. While still managing to prove my point that it took 20 hours of doing the same thing just to unlock (Most) of them.

It took you 20 hours (sounds about right based on other CMDRs reports) just to arm yourself with these new modules. Yet you try to say there is no grind when there is a clear barrier of entry...Wouldn't you have preferred to use say 15-18 of those hours to actually fight the Thargoids?

I think most people can't play 24/7 and would like to spend the hours they can play in a fun way.
Whatever rocks your boat man, if you like grinding for twenty hours then by all means but don't try to tell me as to which standard I can like or dislike certain gameplay or lack thereof.

Ill always feel free to complain. Iam after all a free man.

It is a grind, I don't understand how people can't see that. The other game I play is world of tanks which even more grindy than Elite. But playing that is fun, so you don't really notice it. Material gathering here is annoying. Hovering around in space waiting for the right USS to spawn is frustrating

I din;t mind doing what i had to do to get the items i wanted. thats why i like this game..( it could of been ALLOT worst )
Every other games that involves farming for end game gear is far from being diversified, most end game stuff is and always has been difficult and repetitive.

and 20hours is VERY short for this game lol ... soooo..

If you feel its a grind then you are not enjoying it. Some people play games that are fun for them . Some people play games they hate..( ill never understand that. lol .. i guess its like real life where people work jobs they hate lol.. )

thats life i guess.. I just dont get why they feel the need to come complain about it. at the very least, if you want change, post in the proper sub forums -> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php/76-Suggestions-amp-Feature-Requests

and be constructive by giving suggestions instead of just whining..

The reason I;ve posted a lot of times is because I want this to stay on the first page honestly.

I've tried not to repeat myself though. But the problem is pretty simple, there isn't much to "Discuss" honestly.
Same here

It is good to see the topic has stuck around. I think Elite's got a community of patient fans; grinding to 60 odd pages is nothing.

I view this thread as a form of emergent game-play at this point.

It would be great to see some kind of response from FDev, though.

I'd be interested to see what you think once you've done it.

I've unlocked shock cannons, one of the human weapons so an easy unlock you can do inside the bubble. One trip to a mat trader and about an hour of surface prospecting for technetium, as a bonus I've maxed four or five other mats whilst doing it and grabbed a load of arsenic which I need for some reason I can't remember. Almost exactly an hour and fifteen minutes (I was cooking a haggis).

I had fun doing it and it wasn't exactly a taxing exerience, plasma chargers are next once I've had enough fun with the shock cannons.

Sometimes it's better to fire a shock cannon than to curse the darkness.

So you are doubling down on the "it could be worse" angle.

Nobody hates this game and if you think they do you are misguided. People hate the things in this game that stand in the way of what they want to do in this game. Which in this case is 20+ hours of grind in order to gain equipment that will help you kill Thargoids. Which to be very clear is what everyone would rather be doing with their time.

Shock cannons are funky, the Thargoids don't like it up em.

All in all definitely worth unlocking, and not much effort. I don't understand all the fuss.

Well, sure, yeah, I agree the human weapon unlocks aren't a real problem.

Because, you can get all of the things while just playing.

But the guardian stuff requires one specific thing, in one specific area, which doesn't have much else to do in that area either to break it up.

The human tech brokers requires thing you can get around the entire of human space, so that's fine.

I have no problem with repetitive elements of a game, but in this case, your also locked out of doing any of the other activities in the game, unless you are ok with travelling a thousand light years between doing the thing that unlocks them, and doing other things.

You can't just play, and gather the things over time like with almost every other element of the game (Which are fine)

So, yeah, I'd like to hear about it after you unlock the guardian things.

This thread as I understand it is about the terrible grind required to unlock all eighteen blueprints (sixteen according to INARA), if we are now changing the rules of the game to limit the complaints purely to the blueprints that require guardian mats/data there's only eight of them so the grind has just been cut by more than half. Or the complaints themselves are wildly exaggerated.

Blueprints are different to blueprint fragments.
The thread title says guardian tech.
The OP mentions nothing about 18 items.

All those pages of petty arguements and you didnt even know what you were debating:p

Lol, twice as sad as I thought it was. I gave you guys too much credit.

You know a threads all but done when people start knit pick or clutch those falling straws of an agument. Not that I agree with all Stigbob posts, and side on the those who say this whole gurdian thing is a bit of a grind.

This is getting embarrassing.

Look, we know that you won't do it, FDEV. But considering this thread just reached page 62, is it that hard to man up and just come here and say:

"Esteemed customers, this debate has been fun, but we won't be streaming ourselves unlocking guardian tech, we're busy making excitingTM new content for you, which you will receive soonTM."

At this point this spineless attitude has started to irk me more than the actual issue being discussed.
