If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

This is getting embarrassing.

Look, we know that you won't do it, FDEV. But considering this thread just reached page 62, is it that hard to man up and just come here and say:

"Esteemed customers, this debate has been fun, but we won't be streaming ourselves unlocking guardian tech, we're busy making excitingTM new content for you, which you will receive soonTM."

At this point this spineless attitude has started to irk me more than the actual issue being discussed.

+1

I once respected FDev for their commitment to deliver a solid experience, now they have our money they look like any other greedy publisher, get what your given and shut up without recourse, the only development that is not bugged to high heaven is the store front and skins.

One simple request from your loyal community to play the game the way you expect us to and you wont even bother with a decent response, your turning into a corporate monster, FDev sponsored by EA, ewwww.

Fdev, do a Bungie at your own peril because once they are gone they rarely come back.

What part is not true? The time it takes?

What would you rather do with your time?

Even if you are on the Thargoids side I am still sure you can think of better things than scanning the guardian sites over and over?

I thought he was referring to the bit about rather fighting Thargoids, I have no interest in that but my god I have even less interest in doing anything to do with the guardians. I did half the first Tam whats his names mission and went bolocks to that. Not been to one since.

The bit about everyone wanting to spend their time killing Thargoids. Can't you even understand your own posts?

This thread as I understand it is about the terrible grind required to unlock all eighteen blueprints (sixteen according to INARA), if we are now changing the rules of the game to limit the complaints purely to the blueprints that require guardian mats/data there's only eight of them so the grind has just been cut by more than half. Or the complaints themselves are wildly exaggerated.

Hum. Well it seems you didn't understand the thread, which is a shame.

Perhaps you will once you go and try to unlock a few guardian items.

To fully confirm the reason for the thread.

The complaint is about unlocking guardian modules (including weapons)

In order to do it you have to collect a single "blueprint fragment" each time you complete a little puzzle (a single puzzle, which never changes) at a site a thousand light years from the human bubble.

You would have to do this puzzle over 40 times to unlock every single guardian module (probably more like over 50 times)

And there is no other way to gain these fragments, so they cannot be gained over time of normal play.

So, once you've actually checked out the issue at hand I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Maybe there isn't a new building that FDev is moving into. Perhaps it was all a ruse to cover their escape from the old building as they liquidate the company and disappear into the night with all that venture capital.

[haha] ;)

Nope people are moaning about all the unlocks.

I've got my eye on the plasma chargers next, but right now I'm having a blast with shock cannon so I'll get around to it eventually. I've looked at the requirements and they are not that steep.

Have you unlocked any of it yourself ?.

I couldn't care less what the industry are doing, I pick games based on gameplay not marketing, fan theorycrafting and wishful thinking. Here's the real clincher, I'm happy with that because my choices work for me.

Your opinions are not facts, any more than mine are.

They're not opinions - they follow what the entire gaming industry uses. You admitted you don't care about what the industry does but you're trying to argue it's all "industry standard". Like I said, what you think isn't important and you're welcome to your opinion but so what - not here to argue with one persons opinion we're here to talk about what's good game design and use facts as best we can to reach an answer.

You coming in and shouting "It's GREAT because I LIKE IT!" ok, and?

Haven't you missed the point of what a quest is? Certainly in Elite which is a game with no end game - and that's what's good about it (I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that). Cutting the quest in half, then you'll be complaining there's nothing to do (where's the content) and secondly, the human tech broker uses the regular economy. Having the guardian tech broker be exactly the same, is distinguished from human tech how?

Option 3. Double down. The more guardian tech puzzles you solve the more (and more and more deadly) the Thargoids that interdict you for them are. Having all the guardian tech unlocked should be at least as much of a challenge as reaching elite status imo.

This is a game community that chews through content fast so "nerf the content", I think I've probably heard it all now. Seriously don't do it if you don't want to do the puzzles but with luck you'd do a couple, do something else for bit .. come back and do a couple more, and still have an interest in Guardian tech 6 months from now. By which time the devs will have had chance to develop another mini game for you.

Complaining there's nothing to do over doing something that's boring? What's the difference?

I never say that I always say "it's great for me because I like it, and I researched what I was buying so I wasn't disappointed and knew I'd like it. Maybe you should do the same in future."

I generally don't follow marketing or theorycrafting, I try to judge games purely by the gameplay. I've heard people saying Sean Murray told lies, but I've also read an article about the death threats a journalist got just for accurately reporting a release delay so I'm very skeptical and slightly suspicious of peoples claims in relation to it because it all seems out the far side of weird.

A lot of people say FDEV told lies, but that always boils down to the person claiming it being disappointed by a reality check.

So you admit you have literally no clue about NMS and yet think you have a valid opinion about it. I can see where we have issues in communicating. As for Braben, where are the Scavenger hunts?

The saddo's are the ones bleating constantly, I'm about five minutes game time away from unlocking some guardian stuff I want but there's no rush as I have healthy outdoors stuff to do first. I'll let you know when I've done the guardian thing and what I think of it.

Going "Oh look a new thread this will change everything" is great except it's not actually a new thread.

So like NMS, all this time so far you've been talking about something you know nothing about as if you're an authority on it.

I admit I watched some gameplay footage of it with the sound turned off, and decided it wasn't for me. That's a researched opinion valid enough for me to make an informed purchasing decision. I'm happy with that decision and don't have any strong feelings about Sean Murray either way, other than people shouldn't get so upset with him about the video game. I may pick it up one day if it's ever going really cheap or bundled with something I fancy and I remember it exists, but I'm not watching and waiting.

I haven't any idea what you mean by scavenger hunts, as I must not have watched whatever video in which he probably said it would be cool and they would try to do that if possible. By not watching the video I don't feel that I'm missing out on anything, if I had watched the video I would probably have interpreted his words as being a plan not a binding promise.

I am an authority on knowing what games I like, don't like and go "meh" at. This is why I'm not upset about any video game purchases.
