If you could only have ONE ship.......

Hmm, I think for me it would depend on where I am when the crap hits the fan. If I'm on the fringe, I'd prefer my Cobra Mk 3 hands down. I've the most experience with the ship, can fit just about anything I need in it. It has the speed to outrun almost every ship, enough fire power to make sure I'm not an easy target and enough armor to get out of a jam if I'm in one.

If I'm in heavily populated space, that is a harder choice. I want to lean towards my Gunship, but it's 3 restricted modules makes it hard for me to want to be stuck in it. I'm going to say my Keelback, as I can fit an economy passenger bay, cargo space, my fuel scoop or SRV and a fighter. I'd be able to do just about anything needed to help out where I can, and have enough fire power to be able to fight if need be.

Hmmm, I use the Asp E the most and love it to bits. I love the uber combatness of my Cutter, I love my new discovery that is the DBX.

Logically, as its the best ship, and the one I use the least, is the one I will choose : Anaconda

Python wins hands down for me.

Good jump range with FSD upgraded. Get G5 thrusters and her manoeuvrability is fantastic which helps in fights. I've got mine kitted out for fighting in combat zones and she is doing just fine with the 5A prismatic shields.

Once I strip into trading mode I can get circa 240T of cargo and then we have the ability to land at outposts that big ships don't have.

All in all its the Python for me, and I could happily live with her as my only ship.

FLEE!!!!! PUSHED OUT OF THE BUBBLE!!!! WHAT SHIP WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO TAKE YOUR COWARDLY BEHIND FROM HUMANITIES HOME? I fear you weakling federals give these thargoids far too much credit. You, my pathetic neighbours, mayb planning to retreat but us CITIZENS OF THE EMPIRE are made of stronger stuff, and aggression by these thargoids will be met by the FULL FORCE OF THE EMPIRE AND ALL ITS LOYAL SUBJECTS. Any talk of retreat or defeat will be met by the appropriate punishment.

LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR.

A tactical withdrawal for the reasons of a counter attack id use my cutter:D

This!

Absolutely my Cutter.

Rave parties.. plus turn the shields on at night, knowing you'll have a lovely undisturbed sleep :D

Me too, the incomparable beauty, the airliner looking cutter, with its one and only glowy entrance stairway. A space faring mini private comfy hotel-resort. Of course, I'd also keep a big fighter bay with the 12 to 16 imperial spinner SLFs. If you look at the windows, you can even see through them at what looks to be like a lounge bar counter with tv screens, lol. And with the decent defenses, you can afford to relax a little longer with pebble throwing deflected like soft rain pattering from the fracas of the plebeian scavengers outside. [zZzZz]

Cutter, with that speed and internal capacity with the upcoming repair limpets, there's nothing I can't run away from or fight \o/

Beluga.

I can evacuate the fleeing masses as a premium, and still have ship enough to stand up and fight if I have to, have cargo space for all the necessities, fighter bays, planetary vehicles and a fully-functional gym to stay fit to fight.

But where would you spend the Money? hehe

But where would you spend the Money? hehe

Who said anything about money? My canopy needs a good washing. My RemLock suit smells like an old sock.
I could use another mug of Lavian Brandy, and my Galley needs to be kept stocked.

In times of crisis, money is of little value compared to things like Food, Water, Lavian Brandy, and good old labor.

i would stop playing.

i just miscalculated in my asp ex miner. i had finally gotten 1t of low temp diamonds. i was interdicted by a python on way to a station to sell. i wasnt dropping those diamonds but i got greedy, thought if i can survive a few seconds, maybe 2 minutes the cops are all over this python and i can add bounty to my proftis. i didnt have 2 minutes. rebuy, lost 7t bromellite 11 t of lithium hydroxide. 8t of methanol monohydrate crystals i was mining for a mission and 12000 in cr of bounty vouchers i forgot to claim before launching. plus 1 t of low temp diamonds, gal avg 57000cr per ton. i dont feel like playing elite for a little while. damn police were slow in a democracy.

point is if they reduce you to one ship because fleeing the bubble - you wont get a choice. it will be whatever the hell you are in because stations will be abandoned or locked down and taken over - no civilian docking. there will not be anywhere to go except colonia, where you can have access if you pay to transfer all ships probably.

if they drive me out of the bubble and im stuck in my asp ex set up for exploring i will play. if im in my FAS with its 4 jump fuel tank and tendency to overheat if you rub your hands on your legs too fast, but theres lots of fun combat well maybe i will play. if im stiuck in my mining asp with no fuel scoop, wont play. if im in either of my cobras, wont play. the mkiv might be ok but the mk iii and the asps just dont have any business being in a serious fight. mining asp can take on 3 adders or something like that , but anything like federal ship types, imperial stuff, pythons, anacondas, they have no chance - especially the exploring build because it has only lightweigth bulkheads and no weapons. the cobras might last a little longer but the mkiii only has passenger cabins. the mkiv i keep because it has twice the cargo capacity and an srv so unlike the FAS it can do surface missions.

i dont think it will get to the stage you get driven out of the bubble and only access to one ship. but unless it is the asp i use to explore there wont be a point me logging in until the thargoids are dead.

This one.

She's another "vanity project", which I've spent far too much time, money and engineering mat's on but the result is a ship which has proven to be versatile, reliable and punches far above her weight.
G5 clean drives mean she can ninja with the best of 'em, efficient beam lasers and overcharged MC's can ruin most people's day and the G5 FSD means she can jump 55Ly when stripped-down although that reduces to around 40 Ly in a more practical configuration.

If I'm honest, I would probably have picked my Python, instead, if I'd made the same effort with upgrades.
Overall, a Python is a tougher ship with a bigger cargo capacity, can go anywhere an Asp can go and the jump-range isn't exactly terrible.
I guess I just turned into a Lakon fanboy at some point though.

*EDIT*

To put things in perspective, this is THE ship that keeps me playing ED.
When I take a break from the game, I find myself looking through my album of ED screen-grabs and I always seem to find myself looking at pic's of the AspX and thinking "Dayum, I need to be flying that again!"

Just tinfoiling here.

With the Thargoid's coming, they could push humanity out of the bubble and you may not then have access to your 'fleet'.

If so what would be the ONE ship you would take?

I've got down to two - the Imperial Clipper and my Cobra MkIII. So which is your favorite ship from your fleet?

Imperial Courier, no contest. I'd be very sad at having to give up one of the two I have! I'd also greatly miss my FdL.

I'm torn between Anaconda and AspEx....

If I can't make ANY changes to the ship, and it's only as is, I'd have to say Asp as it's rigged for multirole, and the Anaconda is rigged for exploration. (Meaning it has no teeth).

Otherwise, Anaconda for sure.
