I'm bored with this game. What to do?

I have about 500 hours since December. Had lots of fun but now I'm bored.

I have the ships I want. Anaconda and Corvette. The grind to get Imperial Cutter is not worth it.

No need to mine anymore, I've got enough credits.

Combat is.......meh.

Exploration would be fun if there was something to do when you get there. Driving around on a barren planet gets old after 30minutes.

So am I missing something? What else is there to do?
I think you should first, take a break. Then learn about the background simulation. There are several youtube videos about it, and once you get into it, it can be quite interesting, challenging, and rewarding. Also, being part of a squadron that is focusing on the BGS in a system can be great fun. After you have earned all there is to earn in this game, its time to give back, and that can be the most rewarding experience of all. Its not all about you.

Before I stopped drinking (not by choice, my body simply reacts badly to alcohol these days) I brewed my own beer and was also interested in learning how to distill spirits. What I discovered is that in the UK (and many other countries) you need a licence to do so. In the UK, you are exceedingly unlikely to be able to obtain one except as a business. The reason for this is that if you screw up your spirits, you could easily blind or even kill people... Just a word of warning. :)
The reason is that the protection racket you mentioned want to protect their revenue

In Portugal and throughout Europe every one with grapes (or any excess fruit) makes hobby spirits the trick is to distill it slowly

plenty of info on the net if you shake the bottle when its a quarter full you want to see lots of small bubbles at the top if its without its

wood ethanol and bad for you

Play a different game. Take up needlepoint. Make an analogue friend? Go out on a date. Read a book. Try to take over the world.

Elite is like a lavishly decorated cake, layered in the richest butter-cream frosting. Once you’ve eaten all the frosting, you discover the cake beneath is made mostly of cardboard and whole-wheat flour, and was baked too long, leaving it hard, dry and tasteless.

Try combat in something more challenging, and more agile than the big slow behemoths - it is a different game. Get a small ship (Eagle MK II is the best I've heard) and try your luck against pirates, or in conflict zones. I grow bored of combat in a corvette quite fast, in my Eagle I can spend hours shooting other ships.

I just started to build an Eagle yesterday.
Can confirm it's fun, especially in VR where you are afraid to stand up due to the small cockpit. Love the handbars too.

You must be on the wrong planet. Or, I suppose it is remotely possible that you don't like driving? :)

I find the SRV to be more fun than flying spaceships most of the time. Of course, there is only very limited fun to be had on flat terrain, but I haven't found a planet yet that hasn't had some proper SRV challenges. Climbing mountains is always fun. Ravine running also. Ravine jumping. I could go on, but I'm sure I don't need to. :p

I don't find it funny for several reasons, which are of course my opinion only:
1. We can only land on barren rocky and ice planets with nothing interesting. When there is a POI, you find all stuff in a sq.km or less, so no reason to go farther.
1. I find it frustrating when the SRV starts spinning without control. We have ESP in our cars so no reason not to have it in the SRV.
2. Planet surfaces are full of rocks and SRV are designed to go fast... bad combination (see also above).
3. In VR it gives me motion sickness after 10 minutes (so that's where the numerical limitation come from).
4. Guardian bases should be played in dungeons as FPS, not driving a rover around. It's one of the things that makes no sense.
5. Except for guardian bases and material collection at geological site, there is no reason to drive on planets. It's all about personal narrative. No real scope.
6. I've introduced concepts for new SRV's and more planetary gameplay in the past. I received a lot of positive feedbacks from the players, but of course none from FDEV so the gameplay after so many years remains very limited, even if there is a lot of potential.

ethanol is ethanol as far as the body is concerned. Whether it's created from berries, corn, wood, switchgrass, etc.... that just leads to different costs, methods of creation and maybe flavors. Wood ethanol is a term used to describe the source of the ethanol, like corn ethanol and grain ethanol, sugar ethanol ..etc.

What's poisonous during fermentation is called methanol ...which is a very different type of alcohol. it also boils at a lower temperature than ethanol ...which is what distilling does. It boils away the bad alcohol ....and the good alcohol either remains in the liquid or condenses back into a liquid and dripped back or in a separate container... the process can be repeated over and over to further distill and purify the ethanol.

Though true, most regulations regarding alcohol are about protecting taxes and license fees rather than public safety. But to be fair, alcohol is a deadly drug that is often abused by people and leads to a lot of unnecessary deaths every single year all over the world. So humans have been pretty clearly showing that they can't regulate themselves to deal with it safely.

While I'm not going to argue that SRV driving is fun for everyone, I'll bite...

1. "Interesting" is rather subjective. I find 5 mile high mountains quite interesting. Or really dark and rocky ravines.
2. Mine doesn't. ;) That just means you haven't learned to drive it fully yet.
3. Drive round? Flyve over!
4. That's something that is just unfortunate. :( I am lucky that I don't suffer motion sickness at all, and drive the SRV for hours in VR. VR is the reason I enjoy it so much. Have you tried changing the motion sickness settings in the options?
5. We'd need legs to be able to do that!
6. Again, no arguments from me, as that is entirely subjective.
7. While I also want more features (e.g. allowing players to set up courses for SRVs), we can already do these things now they just need a little more organising. e.g. Planetary Circumnavigation Club, the Pomeche Ridge Challenge.

It looks like the thing you're missing is... a rest from the game!
Mayhaps the 'New Era' expansion will bring life to the game for you.

500 hrs is pretty good value for a game. I've clocked a few 1000 by now and never seem to get too bored. I guess the secret is not actually looking for something to do, I kind of just open the game up and, well it's a bit like another life. I just do stuff that isn't the UK 2016 [EDIT: er 2020! what???]

ED is an old friend, a bit like Test Match Special.

If I may be so bold, I suggest join a Squadron if you support the Federation take sometime look up us The Earth Defense Fleet

The Force is about balance, young Padawan. Time to get some balance in your life, and use the computer to entertain and stimulate you in balance with experiencing life, learning new skills - learn a language, learn a musical instrument, learn life skills, get outdoors and live life not just grind a game until your fingers bleed and you see the ED Universe after you have turned off the computer.

I thoroughly recommend learning flight assist off, Hobbs/Moxen Wolf's videos are excellent, the frist couple of "excercises" are a very zen thing, and as it starts to click, you really feel something awakening in you, once you make the transition to 100% FAoff, there is satisfaction in everything you do in game. I feel so uber-boss when I drop in on a signal source and FAoff scoop up all the materials.

Some can play the game longer than others. Some can absolutely play it forever. But I get bored after a while. It is good to have variety. The happy neurons that used to fire while cashing in my passenger missions just dont fire like they used to. :) It's ok to play something else.
