I'm off on my Journey to find Raxxla

Hunch number 4)

pilots of the dark wheel pass on their knowledge to their children.

meaning any offspring of any lore name (say Lori Jameson) might know of raxxla / dark wheel.

finding an NPC (relation) and tracking their wakes has been another projected avenue of investigation

hehe, during my last (longer) Exploration Trip, I was wondering about the old mis-jumps of ELITE.

6. How do I force a mis-jump/entry to "witch space"?
On 6502 versions, this is achieved by engaging maximum "climb" as the hyperspace countdown times out. On the BBC version, you may have to pause the game, press CTRL_X, and then resume to enable this.

Made me wonder if "RAXXLA" maybe is like initiating a Hyperjump and giving specific Control Inputs before making the Jump.... like Right, Aft, X (?), X (?), Left, Aft
X would be unknown Inputs though.

I even looked up some old Control Schemes (Paper-cut) for the 8bit Computer keyboards, no dice though (on the "X").

-- edit --
Wondering right now about the old Keyboard many Ships have on the left side. Anything unusual about the keys shown there, like 2nd/3rd function keys on those Characters maybe?

With all the research done and those many commanders working on finding Raxxla, some newbie new to the game will stumble into it by accident and get the credit.
that's why I'm set to get alerts from NEW threads about raxxla too lol.

I wonder if he knows about the real thread that's got all the established ground work already being done?

I just want to find it by accident present my finding to the forums enjoy a week of Forum stardom, then continue playing the game as normal. o7

You would have more than a week of stardom. Raxxla is a big deal. Gaming Easter egg hidden for years. You would be interviewed by every gaming magazine and website in the world. How much would you pay me to tell you where it is?

Have you ever thought about what you will do when you find it?
A secret kept so well should remain a secret. When you find it, give no clues.
Tell no one.

It's not possible to fly from one system to another without jumping.

Witch space is the loading screen for the next instance.

Witch space is a map.

Also don't forget, it's not a planet.

A couple of years ago, when there on Speccy scene was so much hype about Elite, some magazines wrote - there in game Elite is secret planet Raxxla. Is it true?

No. "

At least that's what could be read into that answer. Source: http://www.atlantis-prophecy.org/recollection/?load=interviews&id_interview=37

It's been quite a question, popping up in the 80's magazines too (internationally)
"EIiteIn der Literatur zu Elite wer-den die Planeten Raxxla und Ci-rag erwähnt. Kann man dieseauch im Spiel erreichen?"
And on and on.

Wondering if there are more hints in the old gaming stuff as opposed to simply novellas etc.

Anyway, that's my non-contribution. I'm off for another adventure.

Morning, merry Christmas.

I seem to remember that the Witch space loading screen changed during one of the updates to include the destination star. If Raxxla was findable prior to that then it wouldn't have been via the graphics in the witch space jump.

Personally I think you will have more luck investigating the Rare Goods systems which were in game from day one. Maybe do some research around the station and planet names. Perhaps even look at sources such as the systems named in the original score. Why were they special?

Anyway. Hope you are enjoying the hunt for Raxxla.

The update you refer to was the passenger update in horizons, as you said the destination star was added to the animation.

since the belief that the glowing balls of light (like an orange or blue star that whizzes by) have been just randomized entities.
they have never been categorized before or after that update.
so ... the sequence of the peripheral stars (not the primary destination star) is the clue.

Elite Dangerous, which can be completed, not by playing a game, but by staring at the loading screen over and over again.

Please, do not assign meaning to the loading screen. It is not a clue and will make you crazy.

And if I am wrong and it is a clue, or even a treasure map where X marks the spot, it deserves to be thoroughly ignored on the basis that entertainment needs to be actually entertaining.

Looks like I shall be bouncing around Mother Gaia systems for a bit ;)
Running of the Hypothesis that others have gathered.
1) The early interstellar pilots talked of Raxxla and the dark-wheel station.
2) Meaning ancient FSD travel too and from to find and get word back over specific timespan around of the space of the early colonies.
suggesting that it could be 0ly up to 200 ly from Sol.
3) It was discoverable with ED 1.0 - meaning it's not a location findable via horizons planetary surfaces, and Horizons and Beyond stations and hackable terminals.
So honks and eyes are all we got.
4) It's lying in plain sight but it might not register.
5) It's a journey, so a long haul in-system.
or that in itself is the hint, the route, to take, which is what I am following.
But I have to do economical jumps to not miss a thing and is consistent with early explorers and ship capabilities of the newly started ED1.0 ED pilots and accounts.

omphalos rift, sure it's a stone that marked the "middle" of Zeus kingdom which he called Delphi, and the Oracle lived there.
(Yes the Pleiades ).
And there is even a Delphi Chapter house in "Sol", but it's an installation that appeared post-release....(?)

I was happy to learn that the "Omphalos hypothesis" is actually the Creationist handbook, (or last thursdayism's) .
The silly idea that all of creation was indeed "manufactured" by a creator, and that all the ruins and fossils were just "placed there" on purpose, and reality is not that "old".
But in Elite, that's actually true....our Digital avatars live in a created and simulated reality......is the Rift, our computer screens?

I can't think of any subtle joke that Raxxla is some kind of Asset put into the game as a message from Gods of Elite's Universe....the Developers themselves
A portal to another world? Cambridge and meet David Braben :D
I wonder if it would be a sign like in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy from God.
"Sorry for all the mess"

40 economic jumps to my first (of several) destinations on my Journey, all of which, are 100ly away from sol.....this is going to take some time and patience.
Good luck with that. Can't wait to hear about the big nothing you will ultimately find.

Never seen anyone talk bu%#$3++ before? :D

There were times I thought about actually searching, but as literally thousands of dedicated and smart people failed, I decided it was a waste of my time.
I agree with you there. People have been trying to find this almost since the game came out, same with the Dark Wheel. Why would we be any closer now?
Everyone is just waiting for Braben to drop hints.
