Important Information From Operation IDA

From the Discord:

Hi all,

Due to the information released today, making it clear all system progress will be reset every 7 days, we have made the tough decision to discontinue tracking and no longer focus on support and relief efforts for HIP 23716, or any other thargoid war systems.

While we encourage everyone to take part in the new Thargoid war content as they see fit. We do not feel we can advise our members to spend their time and effort on this dangerous hauling. After being given a timer showing 7 weeks, a vast portion of the community put their all into a single system, managing to move the bar to around 40% complete, yet all that work is now set to be erased.

Until more is known, and the expectations and requirements changed or at least made clear we will only be focusing on CG work when available.

To everyone who worked with us to move cargo and complete missions in HIP 23716, to all the AX and rescue commanders, we thank you for your exceptional efforts this last week.

It makes sense given frontier usually balance community goals the other way.

Also if humans win that's effectively cancelled the next 2 major updates hasn't it. We're probably not supposed to know that though. That we're probably not going to be allowed to win until update 16.

So just let the thargoids win.. there's no point in resisting...

This is so weird given they should have enough data from prior occasions like the big station repairs back in 2018/2019. Who on earth cooked up the mechanic that would wipe the progress of thousands of players every 7 days?
That mechanic has been in operation with station repairs for some time, however the quantities are achievable.
Setting unachievable quantities and resetting progress renders the attempt counterproductive.

Yeah, even when more stations were being burned per week than we could feasibly repair, we could still see the progress bars moving and bring specific stations back if we focused our efforts, and even if some individual player went off-script and decided to work on one that was local to their home base it still contributed rather than just vanishing into the void.

As it is now, even if the numbers were achievable, there's no point in bothering to do stuff as an individual (the way the vast majority of players play, for the record, even in open!) as any effort that isn't spent focused on wherever the big groups have chosen to focus gets tossed into the trash every week.

Absolutely awful game design for a game that's supposedly about blazing your own trail.
