In system jumps.

This, and more of this on a conceptual level please. The thread seems to be typically turning into a "we all agree long insys jaunts are boring" and then arguing about that, with some saying "that's as expected, it's space" and others saying "let's make it shorter then". Handbags or buns or whatever is the vogue metaweapon is then drawn and utilized for most of the rest of the thread.

Your concept of "let's make the travel more interesting in the first place, here's one way" seems to frequently be left out of discussions like these.

Cheers, yep, shame aint it? I normally poke my head in on these threads to try and make that point.

Your contribution is so really bad that I should not be answering. But I'll do it anyway:

1) I am exactly in the topic with the contributions criticized by you. So, no hijacking can be determined.

2) Even the creator of this topic asked for a discussion about microjumps:

but i want to make a discussion (although i know many people would have before me, and more after too) make a discussion about in-system jumps.

I wrote down the ideas from others and me, that are a result of that discussion. There is no reason to ignore this on a regular Basis and asking for answers that have been written over and over again.

You hijack someone else topic. So how bad do you want want your idea out? If I have a idea for something. Even though there a bloated idea that close to mine I would not want to hijack someone else topic. For the people who have their own ideas make your suggestions separately. Why it help the Devs. So the can view each idea separately. It also help in debates. So people are not confused about another players ideas. Then we don't have some dumb rant pouting like your going YOU DIDN'T READ. Bla bla bla.

Wasn't that one of the intentions of the creator of this thread to collect and talk about ideas?

As i stated out some Posts before, i will refine the collected ideas and post them in the suggestion Forum.

All I am seeing is people are getting confused. If people are getting confused then this topic is not helping us. You last rant proves this. Then ask your self this. How will it help the Devs and also help players debate on single idea? It dose not help us it only hurts us.

This topic sucks. Because people are seeing multiple ideas and It hardest on true explorer. Like me. Who followed the early Dev videos of Elite Dangerous. Basically the video points out using discovery scanners to get a basic idea of a system. Then the player has a choice. Dose the planets look like they are worth their time and effort in exploring or not. If not then they would jump to a new system. So they left a few large outer systems unexplored.

- You did not answer to my question!

- You did not understand why i wrote, what you called "rant".

- You still do not understand, that what i wrote wasn't a singe idea, only from me. Sure, there were some ideas from me, but i also integrated ideas from others and worked out some compromises.

I guess it does not make sense to further write to each other, as it is obvious, that we both are not discussing on the same level.

Do you honestly think that poor game design is the only possible reason why a player might be asking themselves, "how much waiting around doing literally nothing am I willing to tolerate for a given reward?"

No poor design here. Game is supposed to be played with two moniors. Netflix/forums on one and ED on the other. You are supposed to find ways to entertain yourself while you are playing a game.

Hello, I just posted a concept for how this could work, in a way that might keep big swathes of people happy. Maybe :D

Please see the vid / album here, and come argue about it ;)

One idea I had was maybe utilizing the interdicting 'mini-game' where you are using a type of gravity assist. SO as you are traveling to a far away star or planet, you scanner will pick up a nearby 'gravity assist entry point' as you enter it, a mini-game similar to interdicting will spawn and as you stay in the 'blue' your ship will accelerate across the system. Sometimes it will be risky, causing damage if you lose the 'game' or throwing you off course.

What do you say to people who are in smaller ship that have to sacrifice module space for this feature. So they can still do combat.

Why would you need to sacrifice module space for this feature? Do you sacrifice module space for a frameshift drive? It should be a function of the frameshift drive. Or don't you think that Meta Drive and Sirius Corporation could come up with such?

Can't understand this "I win" button nonsense.

I win? This is no "I Win" button. Especially if they were to use my idea. It still wouldn't be instantaneous (that would be totally off the chain). It would simply speed it up a bit. Maybe cut the time to 2/3 of normal supercruise. I get that figure from the Hutton Orbital run. Even using my suggestion it would still take an hour. It takes 90 minutes now. 60 minutes is 2/3 of 90 minutes. Actually it would take a bit more than an hour as you would need to wait for cooldown each time.

I meant that I can't understand that people think stuff like this is the same as having that mythical 'I win!' button.

Why don't you try to read the whole tread and you will understand how many ideas in this one topic. It why I have been suggesting people need to post their own topic because people are getting confused. Now here the funny thing is The OP only posted once.

I wish I could find the video Frontier posted describing what and how you should go about how to do exploring.

So, when it takes 8 hours of "doing literally nothing" to fly from, say, London to Dubai in FSX, that's just poor game design?

FSX is designed to be a realistic contemporary real-world simulator.

Elite Dangerous is set 1500 years in the future, with spaceships, faster than light travel, and lasers.

I don't think the 2 are comparable, especially given the ED universe already isn't limited to contemporary technology.
