Is Elite Dangerous a dead game? I compared it to some others ...

Elite isn’t dead, the community is still alive, but from the other hand comes really tiny steps.

So they had full focus on pc, but still some major bugs are in the game especially due to the release of EDO , no signs that they will be vanished. And this point should be a clear task for them. In all goodness of the new stuff, but there are a plenty’s of bugs and performance issues which should be fixed.

It’s not the playerbase who decide that an game is dead it is the company, and when there are so many issues which seems to be unsolved, it feels like, the game is dying from company side. (Yes I know they stated clearly that elite will have a future) but this didn’t shows in the company’s actions.

For me, I’ve switched the side to pc, and in every run I see some minor bugs and some huge bugs. Especially the on foot stuff need some urgend help. No need to repeat the performance issues at high Groundcombat zones or other stuff.

I’ve love to play the game, but with each update the game feels like Spagetti and the response of Fdev needs to long to fix this issues, and when we get a update it’s ignores most of the older bugs and fixes the new bugs. I mean how long we will have the stealth planets in SC or the bugged ground missions?

So then, last words, elite isn’t dead, but the efforts to stabilize and optimize the games are at the moment to low, the issue tracker seems to have tiny impact. I miss the major bug list of them.

In all hope that this Little Rock will be thrown aside and Frontier engage with some good bug fixing and performance optimizing updates (in their words interims).

How do you think that website works? Do you think it has accurate up-to-date information on every account?

Or do you think it only has data for people who run the utility that provides it with data?

And if it only has that data, then is it possible I installed the utility once, long ago, and then uninstalled it?
Indeed. I made an Inara account years ago but never got round to installing the app and linking it to my game account. If my account there has survived any purges, it certainly won't reflect my current stats.

Edit: Yeah, sure doesn't 😁

On the whole tho' at heart I feel like he still has a reasonably balanced view of the game? (maybe not, maybe he has fallen out of love with it/them? 🤷‍♂️).
That's the impression I got, reinforced by nearly all of his followers' comments on YouTube all slamming the game. I didn't find any contrary view there.

From my perspective, OA seems honest enough but still sugar coats his criticisms and panders to frontier (or probably the white knight half of his audience more likely).

Stop bullying him because he is overly passive / nice about it.

Nothing he has ever said has come close to doom mongering (trust me :p).

EDIT: Or are you holding him to a higher standard because he is a prominent figure in the community? What about the developers then? Starts from the top?

I too base my opinion of a video's content by the comments that such videos receive. That never results in an incorrect, inaccurate, and misinformed opinion

It's one of the wonderful opportunities I have as a Reddit moderator: I get to see disappointedly stupid comments downvoted to hell, and it's amazingly funny :ROFLMAO:

I totally agree, however there appears to be some weirdos in this community who see OA as some kind of hater, simply because he doesn't push a constant white knight narrative that they for some reason see as necessary for their own anxiety-fueled issues.

not sure about dead, as always, its the only one of its kind so watermelon or chips comparison can't make it look better than it looks to anyone wanting a space flight style game that you fly the ships and do whatever you want in the game.

i want the watermelon, i don't even care that the others on the list are on any list any where.
I want freelancer next gen
we have Elite Dangerous.

if I want to play space sim that has no other updates or people in it I will play Freelancer.
ED is the only game that comes close or surpasses it.

as for utubers, this one is to each his own

my take is I don't mind reviews, better if they are honest.
being human tends to make that difficult
when any reviewer of anything, talks about something and their take is pure opinion, it has no real value.
if they talk about something as fact, that is actually opinion, they have lost me from their audience.
this is the one that has removed all utboopers from my view.
everyone has opinions, that does not make them facts or correct or fair to mention for any reason.

I do still enjoy the Burr Pit, very entertaining, and so far seems to be quite adept at telling the difference between reality and opinion.

I have to say, some of our utubers apparently need to be censored...can't remember .. something about swearing on a video makes me forget they ever existed.

it is just as easy, if not easier to put something down by being nice or while being nice.

I stopped watching all the others after the terrarium..if NBC or CBS or Disney had carried those, they would all be history. and that history would be stricken.
assume nothing, but pretend every cmdr paid for a game and for the most part got their money's worth easily.
Everything afterwards is extra.

It's probably best not to confuse your imagination with reality, as you may risk looking very silly.
Oh, it's not imagination. It's dismay born of finding OA very engaging until he let his bitterness take over, and took his follower-base with him. The comments on Elite are a biowaste-show these days. I gave them many, many chances but it got unremittingly depressing. I think he got too close to the game, and felt burned by something, Braben knows what.

Generally ones personal lack of understanding is a lousy foundation for any of ones arguments. Just sayin' ;)

Also you ask about "worth". Maybe you could describe the meaning of the word "value"? I'd really appreciate that. It's a word everybody use, but nobody seems to be able to explain what value is?

Really, one line without the context and you're going all 'just sayin' on it with me. Okay!

I agree fully with your opening sentence about a personal lack of undestanding being a lousy foundation and all. It's wise and I read it here first and I may even remember it and use it myself going forward. Thank you.

That you seem to beleive that it applies to my post above, and therefore myself, is your call and I'm OK with that. However, it kinda disqualifies me I would say, from truely being able to help you better and more fully, understand words like 'value'. Just sayin'

Hey, I'm going to leave it at that.

Be well.

S!

You sound quite bitter about OA.

some weirdos in this community
I am unsure if I should find this slightly offensive ;).

It's not just OA. All of the YT content creators' audiences thrive on being fed negativity at the worst or serious backseat development at best. Everyone of the creators knows so much better how to develop the game and constantly pushes that agenda ("FDEV bad"), because in general their YT audience (at least the part that is counted as "engaged" by the algorithm) demands being told how bad Frontier is at developing and running their game. In the end, they all are slaves to the algorithm, by which they open themselves up to being criticized. Criticizing what people say or do isn't the same as "hating".
