Perhaps the inference is regarding those who consider themselves "content creators"?
You know what, I thought about it. Maybe it is not fair to paint with such a broad brush. I admit I am somewhat biased against "content creators", "influencers", or however they may call it. I have a certain image in my head when I use those terms, and certainly not all of the Youtubers fit that image. The likes of the Buurs or Galnet News Digest don't fit that image. While I do not really watch their videos because they don't deliver any news that I don't know yet, I appreciate them trying to be a kind of news service with a funny edge. The Buurs sprinkle in the odd amount of criticism now and then, they are still being nice about it. I like nice. I need that in my life. I don't need to spend my time with bitterness.
That being said, one choice the likes of OA, Yamiks or, lately, D2EA could have made when they get disenchanted with ED would have been to just stop doint content on it. The day ED doesn't give me anything anymore, I walk away from it and be quiet about it, and I will not look back or spew my bitterness about it on this forum or on social media.
But they didn't, because they don't run passion projects, they run a business, and to stop making content means losing parts of the audience. And the "active" audience of those who I consider among these "content creators" (meaning those in the audience who directly engage via the comment section) is an audience that likes to bash the game at all cost.
Case in point: I just looked up what YT channels about ED are actually out there, and lo and behold: The one who only talks in expletives just released another "Odyssey is so bad and the Developers are so incompetent" video. Why? Why keep coming back to that? It is certainly not out of love for the game, I don't believe that for a nanosecond. It is because his audience is toxic as <expletive> and thrives on him playing the rude court jester and it brings in that sweet patreon money.
