Is there a reason not to buy an Anaconda?

The anaconda is great at many things, but not the best at much.

  • Combat: The Anaconda gets outmatched in combat by the Corvette (both in firepower and agility, the Corvette does have a worse jump range but the guardian FSDs have greatly diminished this impact).
  • Exploration: Yes, an explorerconda can get the highest jump range due to its abnormally low hull mass (might cease to be true depending on how the current CG dual-engineered FSD works out as the conda can't benefit from it). But the guardian FSDs, overcharging and FCs have removed most of this need - you can just go for the pretty cockpit view + SC handling and the conda does not excel at those.
  • Hauling: Considereably outmatched by the T9/Cutter and even the corvette. I really doubt you'd be using a conda for its cargo capacity.

In what galaxy does the Corvette have more firepower than an Anaconda? Last I checked doesnt.

And frankly a fully landed and geared up Corvette isn't that much more maneuverable than an Anaconda anyway. Weight vs Velocity isn't linear in this game so past a certain point they start handling similar. The real benefit over the Conda is the shielding.

It's interesting. I've built both Anaconda and Corvette for PvE combat in CZs: straightforward multis/lasers & SLF. On paper the Corvette has that extra huge hardpoint, but somehow the Anaconda feels like it's more effective. I used it in last week's CG.

I like The Condas hardpoint placement more and the weapon sizes feel a bit better rounded. I wish I could swap the place of the Vettes C1 and C2 hardpoints

The 'Conda is a good ship. Trades well.. fights well.. explores great. It will do anything you need for a large ship. Are there better ships for a given task ?

Sure.. but they are all role specific.

The Anaconda is a great ship and you can't go wrong with buying one. Even though meanwhile I spend more time in more specialized ships, there's a reason why my Anaconda still holds a special place in my heart and why I consider her the "flagship" of my fleet. She's versatile and can do any job, be it exploration, mission running, combat, material farming or trade. This becomes especially true if you don't have the rank for Corvette or Cutter yet or just can't be bothered grinding those ranks.

She feels and looks like a proper spaceship and I guarantee you, the first time you see her from the cockpit of your SRV, you will fully appreciate her scale. Last but not least, due to the cockpit placement to the rear of the ship, you can actually see and enjoy your paintjobs will flying the ship, without resorting to external view and posing for screenshots.

Just looks too good to be true, jump conda, battle conda, trader conda.

If it’s in budget is there a reason to look else where!

thanks in advance
Trade 'conda? If I'm going to be dealing with downsides of a large ship (loss of access to orbital docks) I'd want a a serious improvement in cargo capacity over the Python. As such the T-9 would fill this role better, though this is something of an oddity given it's role in the original game.

Well maneuverability isn't particularly good, its a right pain to land on rocky terrain and the view out the front is a bit restrictive.
Other than that it is pretty great.

For me that reason is very simple. It's size. With the current state of my wallet I could get few of those HOWEVER I am not going to cut myself off of Outposts... Same with Corvette and Imperial Cutter...

Those asking why people say the Corvette does better damage than the Anaconda are not considering ToT, which the Corvette will get more of in competent hands. DPS is not all about DPS on paper, in practice is a different matter.
