It would be nice if FDEV could keep us updated on server problems. Please.

The last 24 hours we have been plagued with "CONNECTION ERROR - Could not connect to transaction server" disconnects. The game is unplayable in its current state, and it is impossible to find any information whatsoever regarding this issue. (Are you even aware of this problem?). The same goes for the game freezing every few minutes. Why isn't there any official information on this readily available anywhere? This type of information should be posted in the game launcher, to be honest.

A lot of players are probably very frustrated.... wondering if it's an issue in their end, if it's a broken game installation, if it's an issue with their internet connection, or if it's a server issue. But for the players that are highly engaged in the online ED community - it's pretty obvious this is a huge problem for EVERYONE.

It's perfectly fine if you haven't got an ETA on fixing problems like these, but you should at least acknowledge that you are aware of it and are working on it. Do not just shut down all information and keep us in the dark. I find it hard to believe that not a single support employee has a few minutes to spare to post some information.

After all, you have an entire forum section dedicated matters like these. It's called Patch Notes & Server Status. You also have the game launcher, which would be a perfect place to display these things. It takes such a small effort from your side to post a single message - but it makes a really huge difference for us players.

Please, start using the Server Status forum section for its intended use. Or the game launcher. We need to know - that you know about the problems.

Scenario 1.
There are connection problems, devs are unaware or provide no feedback on the issue. People having problems are left in the dark, wondering what's going on, if there are any actions taken, what's the reason and how much it may last. Forums get bombarded, social media (if available) gets bombarded, frustration arises.

Scenario 2.
There are connection problems, devs are aware and provide usual feedback - there's a problem, we are aware, working on that, no ETA. People having problems are left in the dark, wondering what's going on, if there are any actions taken, what's the reason and how much it may last. Forums get bombarded, social media (if available) gets bombarded, frustration arises.

Scenario 3.
There are connection problems, devs are aware and provide good feedback - there's a problem, we are aware, working on that, ETA approx. 2h. People having problems curse and moan about how unreliable service is and that such a problems shouldn't happen at game this size. Dedicated dev representative get all the hits trying to explain the issue. Forums get bombarded, social media (if available) gets bombarded, frustration arises.

From the company POV it's pointless to get past scenario 2. You have to work to solve the problem anyway and having the need to explain things to players and maintain order is extra job. Thankless one since no one cares about their problems and expect fix be done asap. And honestly - what would exactly change if you got info "issues detected". For me it's equally useless as "there is a problem, we are aware, working on that, no ETA". I'm still unable to connect, don't know what the issue is and don't know how long it will last.

More info I won't get either. Can't play when I wanted? Sucks. Will play other games and try the next day.

> From the company POV it's pointless to get past scenario 2.

I disagree completely. I work in IT support, and I can tell you that rule #1 is to provide information to your customers. Even if the information is that you have no further information, you have to tell your customers.

Probably doesn't help but I did see a CM say Fdev are aware there's a sitch and will be fixing it in the new year, but a popup on the game launcher just warning people there's an issue would be better. First time it happened to me I thought the game had crashed.
Social media and forums get bombarded regardless of what's going on in the game. More information is nearly always better than less information.

Alternately - not everyone is having issues. No connection errors here. So maybe the launcher is reporting on my connection ;)

Couldn't stay connected for more than 60 seconds or so about an hour ago (in Australia). This seem to have settled down now, touch wood.

I am not getting many connection issues too but I am getting a ton of rubber banding and people just pop in and out of instance... This is how its been for me https://www.twitch.tv/besieger1/clip/VibrantBlazingVultureYouDontSay?filter=clips&range=7d&sort=time

And this is how it makes people feel

But they are still not giving us a proper post/notification/whatever on this matter. A single tiny post in some random forum thread doesn't mean much when 99.99% of the players will never see it.

Come on FDEV. Get your act together. Does it really hurt that much to give an official statement on these problems in a sensible manner so all players can see it?

Elite is reportedly at its highest player count. That doesn't happen when 'everyone' can't play.

The forum isn't IT support. I'm sure if you contact them they'll tell you that they have no further information, if you really think that's a worthwhile use of their time.

Sigh, you really want to discuss semantics? Ok for the sake of your argument... "The forum isn't IT support." So why aren't they publishing info in the launcher? How about using the newsletter to give out info? Or a post info on their website? They have a lot of different options to provide info to their paying customers, yet they choose to use none of them.

This company is providing an IT service; SaaS. And SaaS providers usually show enough respect towards their customers to provide basic information when there are interruptions of their services. Even when their user numbers are "at its highest". Actually, ESPECIALLY when their user numbers are "at its highest".

They have replied:

Hey there, we're aware of it, and the issues are being investigated. Apologies for the issues you've been having since the update.

Sadly people keep raising new threads about the same issues. Maybe because they can't read. Which is ironic, given the OP's thread title ;)

Aware means the intern they left behind to keep the lights on wrote it on a sticky note. The real devs are still on vacation.

I had no connection issues last three days for sure.
I've noticed though that mission board loaded kind of slower sometimes but this could be because of my local network usage.
I've seen freezes, some of them caused crashes.

Basically I guess that ED should be open source with a chance to accept public commits. As we can see here is a lot of guys with tons of spear time who definitely could make the game better.[noob]
