Jurassic World Evolution 2 Developer Diary #2 - An Authentic Jurassic World Experience

For starters, the campaign mode is so very different than I initially thought.

My initial thoughts were you will be able to capture wild dinos and bring them to theme parks being build on the mainland. In the first game, all of the Jurassic World Era buildable assets can be unlocked in it, sometimes with respective additional campaign playthroughs before getting some of them. So, I thought it would be the exact same here, but no.
Instead, the main campaign focuses on capturing and bringing in dinos into secure facilities to care for them, keep them and people safe, like a sanctuary of sorts.

It's Chaos Theory mode where the real story/narrative park constructing and managing theme lies! Based on what I see, the main campaign will be JW era, but with limited resources, in way more or less like the Isla Sorna (1993) and Isla Nublar North campaign maps from the first game. Guess that explains one reason why the division system from the first game the 3 division characters aren't being a thing. Also, because of this, I guess that means the rest of the JW era structures that you wouldn't be able to get in the campaign will be available in Chaos Theory itself. AND, it's also where you will be able to get the hybrids from the films from, instead of the campaign like I initially thought (which was why I was unsure how the introduction of hybrids would work for the rest of the game, beyond the Chaos Theory mode possibility). This also further clarifies on what they mean by "researching things in all modes" for Sandbox, because you can unlock more JW era stuff and more dinos both excluded from the campaign in Chaos Theory.

Then again, they did clarity before that if you research anything in any mode (including Challenge mode), it will be automatically unlocked for Sandbox. It's not like the first game where you have to play the campaign (and only the campaign) and research them there first before being able to use them in Sandbox.

It's also confirmation that the jungle type biome, whatever it's officially called in-game, will be returning, which is no surprise to me honestly, I just wondered how it would be implemented. As well as solid confirmation of Compsognathus (again, absolutely no surprise on that), as well as another type of unspecified mosasaur.

It will ne nice to be able to do something else other than just building park after park for however long the campaign is. I agree with BestInSlot, I don't think the campaign will be as long as JWE's campaign was. He said if you got 5 stars on every island and did all the optional stuff it could take you 20-30 hours to get through the campaign. I know I never left an island till I got 5 stars and unlocked everything. It took me a while to get through the game. Mostly cause I couldn't spend hours a day playing it unless I skipped doing something else.

Also this means when we get to sandbox we don't have to build parks either. We can build like a Site B hopefully. One of the developers said in the dev diary that we will be building parks and facilities in Chaos Theory mode. Meaning something that isn't a park. You could say Site B was a facility cause it wasn't a park. It actually makes the game a lot more interesting than just building parks all the time. It offers a different way to do things and I think it's being over looked by some people. They said when the game was finally revealed that we could build like a nature reserve with dinosaurs. Basically Site B.

Hi JPjunkie93!

We don't have anything to announce about dinosaur feces, or about co-op. Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a single-player game, but you could always hot seat with your friend, or play together with one person controlling and the other giving build advice :)

I'm glad this game is singleplayer, but thinking of people who like multiplayer, how would it work? I don't see any gameplay changes. It would be curious how a park management game would work in this way. Anyway, hope you can have fun playing in singleplayer in all available game modes!

I am aware you can do facilities of sorts in Chaos Theory too, in case you were wondering, and I do wonder what types of “facilities” you will be able to do in them.

Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (San Diego), and Jurassic World are obvious to be theme parks. But I do wonder how exactly these facilities will work out? The Lost World (Sorna, assuming there will be more than one TLW setting), Jurassic Park III, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (which would have the Indoraptor), are obvious choices for facilities, and I really want to find out how they will work out. It’s very tempting and exciting!

All this and what I said earlier I’m really looking forward to!

Dang no co-op but there will be a mod that will bring co-op on PC but I don't have a pc lol I only have Xbox one

Jurassic world evolution has a mod for multiplayer

I expect it'll still be like building a theme park. You might capture escaped dinosaurs and place them in fenced enclosures, but you'll still need to attract visitors for revenue and will probably be breeding more dinosaurs alongside the ones you capture. It wouldn't be too different from Isla Sorna in the JWE campaign.

@Jens Erik Can the Indominus Rex camouflage in JWE2? And is the camouflage ability drastically improved from JWE, so the Indominus can truly camouflage and be almost invisible?

Lastly, can we modify the Indominus Rex's genes like all the other dinosaurs? (I know this is most likely obvious but just want to check)

Hope I am not bothering by asking these questions again in the thread I just really want the Indominus Rex to have camouflage and that the ability is drastically improved to make it near invisible and the ability to modify the Indominus Rex's genes. Also, great job to all the staff and yourself for all the hard work. Whoever thought of Chaos Theory is a genius and needs a big congratulations for the idea! Look forward to playing this game!
