I agree fully with the OP, the game is too disjointed and souless with no purpose, its full of people trying to find a reason to keep playing when there isnt that much content in here atm. A lot needs adding. I feel like I want to play but I cant be bothered with the limited gameplay. I am sure it will all improve ... over time... lots of time. It's frustrating atm.

My advice is do as I have done, leave it for a few months and come back later. I can't see 1.1 making me want to play, maybe version 2 will. But how far is that away?

They need to really start motoring with the content and mechanics, add the external views .. something good...anything really ...for the bulk of the players that aren't that interested in the multiplayer aspects I mean.

I think David Braben has this view of the game that is scuppering the development - he needs to widen his focus see the whole thing not just the multiplayer.

Why spend ur time on the forum of a game u do not wanna log into?

Better find a game u like then, right ?

And let the ppl who like elite play it.

Because most people are/were Elite/Frontier/FFE fans, and space sim fans in general. And they're extremely disappointed and feel let down.

For me personally, the feeling of utter disappointment after 2 weeks of playing was almost soul crushing. I'd waited so long for Elite IV. Sheer willpower prevented me from buying the Beta because I wanted the complete feature rich game...

And after 2 weeks I was thinking, is this it?? where's the dynamic galaxy? where's the life? where is the sense of discovery and wonder?

Why does NOTHING ever happen outside of stations?? Why can't I stumble upon a wing of pirates attacking some traders at a remote outpost? why can't I jump into a system and see a big battle raging? Why aren't npc's flying to and from stations and systems? etc etc etc
Why? because of instancing. I don't want a reprimand from mods for swearing.

We care so much for this game, that's why these threads abound.

Well that post was the first post in months too, mainly due to people like yourself that can't abide any criticism of their precious thing.

Also I'm at work so cannot play the game.

Additionally, maybe just maybe I actually want the game to be better and be all it can be rather than the bare minimum.

Like myself? :)

I am a patient person, i can see the devs working on the game.

And while they do i enjoy the game.

I just thougt it funny that u still hang around.

Just so everyone ELSE is clear, sicne your too high and mighty :)

The game was sold as something much more than what it is now. Watch Braben's personal videos. The Frontier youtube channel, as well as any DDA or backers forums with dev interaction.

Wheres the famines? The station building? The inflatible stations? the reputation mission system? Why is open and solo so unbalanced with their pk bounty system? ... etc etc

High and mighty? Well, I've been called a lot of things but that's certainly a new one.

I noticed the game about 2 months before it was released. I bought the Merc edition and the game, as I have already stated, came with exactly what I was lead to believe it would. I had no access to the DDA or Backer Forums, in fact I had no idea what they were until after I had pre-ordered.

So, for me, the game has delivered what I was expecting, and I enjoy playing it. I am of course looking forward to some new content and improvements/fixes as I have also said previously.

If that makes me "high and mighty", so be it

Edit: Isn't station building coming with 1.1?

I can feel u on this, they where fast on releasing the game and this shows, but it also shows clear signs of still undergoing development, so there is still reason for hope that the things that is lagging for those like you will get it.

Maybe take a break? and check back in later on.

You said you weren't going to read or reply. Looks like you fell for the trap!

Arrived onto our TS server yesterday to find half the people on the server playing another game. Made me smile.
The worst showing in a good while too, active players down by 70%.
What ever this illness is, its catching.

I hope it makes a full recovery soon and comes back with a bang.

My whole group is R.I.P in Pepperoni

PvPing sidewinders and eagles got boring.

Great post!

We care.
Thats the two words anyone should take with them from threads like these. Sure, some are not as "diplomatic" in describing the dissappointment they feel. But we all care.

Eventually we will dissappear from the forums, but lets hope its for the right reasons.

I don't feel like logging in either. To be honest after the first couple of play sessions I found my interest in the game rapidly going downhill; once you've got to grips with flying around and the novelty wears off you just start to see ED for what it is and it's a disappointment. My other SSD (with my steam library on it) has failed and I need to RMA it so ED is the only game on my computer at the moment and I can't be bothered to even load it up. What's the point? What am I going to do? Nothing that I didn't do already in the first couple of hours. I'm just bored of it, there's nothing of substance there to really dig your teeth into and if have to mindlessly fart about in my ship drifting through a planet's rings imagining that I'm having fun I think I'd rather go for a bike ride or do a painting or something.

At this stage, we would need server statistics regarding online player numbers in order to determine if those criticizing the game (regarding depth, content, multiplayer, etc.) are only a vocal fringe minority or not.

Hello fellow commander’s

Good morning
I’d like to start off by saying I to started playing Elite dangerous back in 1984…….Wow that was a long time ago

…………I sit and contemplate my age for a few seconds “wow how 14 turns into 45 goes so FAST” any way my reply
to this post is with a heavy heart as I REALLY wanted to enjoy this game. I know we all had our own expectations
how the game should have been and how close the hardworking developer’s, designer’s, game balancers………..wait
hold there for just a sec we as beta backers went through reset after reset helping balance the game before the last
reset and we all felt good about the launch day.

Do you know what I find myself playing today after devoting about 1500++ hours to elite dangerous, yes I was almost
happy with the way it was balanced @ release, now I’m playing *Kerbal Space program* yes that right the little guy with big head.
Let me tell you why. One word “Content”
Elite dangerous………..short falls.

#1. Whiners…….. about the game that don’t take the time to learn how to play the way it was meant to be played and CRIED ………………………Balance the game
“ I can’t kill a Python in my Sidewinder”……..Please really I mean REALLY you could if you had more sidewinders together.

# 2. Trading……..HMMM where do I go from here’’’’’’’’’’’’----____ I like to order a Python, Cobra, oh and a Anaconda on the side
check please 900,000,000,000 and then the short fall ‘’’--__ I only make 1,000,000.00 per hour and can play for about 3 hours a day that’s
3,000,000.00 per day and I can only play four days per week that’s 12,000,000.00 so far, wow I’m tired of trading lets go blow something
up……Boom I’m dead…….. Good by -3,000,000 in insurance that cost me a day yes a full 3 hour day of trading gone forever. “Mike cry’s”

#3. Mining………ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ……….open’s one eye……………..ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ doc I think he went into Acoma.
Fixes for the two above “short falls”

#1. Learn to be less whiny and have more structure to your complaint, or just leave.

# 2. Make it fun………. Hide a few nest eggs of opportunity to make some good hard fast credits so we don’t mind losing a few ships
or credits BUFF UP not down the ships cost A LOT the parts cost A LOT “millions” that or bring the prices down on the
ship’s and the parts I don’t have 8 hours to play a day.

# 3. ZZZZZZ…………open eyes and yawns………. And blurts out Mineral scanners tractor beams…………we are not farmers.

“Make it fun” “make it unforgettable” “make it RIGHT”

And I may come back. [0]_[0]

Commander Ironbear
Thank you and God bless……. See you in the verse 0_ -

They probably won't. The could, but I guess they won't. In FFE they had a purpose in that you tracked assassination targets over weeks and light years and could land outside the station and try and get them taking off. Or you could drop mining drones.

if they are just a cut scene landing with no unique content to make it worthwhile then it'll just be another disappointment.

But hopefully Frontier know that and have a few aces up their sleeves.

Is FFE Frontier Elite 2 or Frontier 2: Elite 3? I played Frontier and remember the landings and tracking people and I doubt it would be a cutscene - jeez lol - could you imagine the rage on here if they did that??!! hahaha :)

Cripes albligthy! Do people still practice the noble art of reading here?

I make one simple suggesting to someone who can't stand the trade grind to hop in a Viper. This means I am misdirecting, lying, talking nonsense, making arguments about how chockful o' content the game is.

All this by people who actually quote me. What is quoting supposed to mean? Do you guys just quote any post and simply use it as a soapbox to regurgitate the same lines over and over again? Talk about grind. More to the point, what on Earth are any of you still doing here? I know lots of games I bought and hated. I moved on. What I didn't do is spent weeks on the forum telling anyone who was enjoying that game how wrong they were. Of course not, that would be fruitsalademustarddressing inane.

Move on. Please. And don't pretend you're still here because you want to point out stuff to devs, or warn new buyers. That is just so much transparent horsepuppies. If you've convinced yourself of this, well you're able to make better argument than you're all showing here. You're here to complain, and to tell other they are not really having fun. Even though they are. But they aren't. They're just telling themselves that because of reasons.

(the above you's are all universal you's and not specific for you Jex)
Sorry Jex for being the straw, but really. You're the 3rd one who apparently just goes for the reply button to say: this game has no content, even if the post you replied to didn't argue there was.

Go buy Grey Goo. (research it first) Go play something you like. Leave this disappointment behind you and move on.

No I'm serious I want an answer. I see you ranted and dodged the question entirely which just leaves me to think there isn't an answer that can't be picked apart for it's lack of depth.

I'll go back to using my Falcon 4.0 (BMS) example. When you get in a Falcon mission, as in all players connect, you have a a MAP and hundreds of generated missions that the dynamic campaign handles. You pick a mission and you talk about the mission with your friends. Your route, SAM sites and AAA defences. The target ingress and egress, your payload, how to handle enemy aircraft, rally points, terrain masking, etc, etc.

Thing is, you're looking at a 2d map and haven't even got into the game yet and we're already ten times as deep as ED.

Flying around in a viper and having fun seems to me to be pointless. What is there to fly around? Going back to falcon, you have the terrain though falcon isn't a good example - Lockon would be better (Or DCS now) which has a much richer terrain. You can have fun flying around. You can go real low, fly down valleys, around mountains, through twisting canyons, etc.

ED you're in space. There's literally nothing out there and there's no constraints like you get in an atmosphere with gravity. So flying around for the sake of it can be fun for a few instances, like around a space station, but ultimately there really isn't much to do. I don't know what you mean when you say you're flying around - flying around what?

Why does NOTHING ever happen outside of stations?? Why can't I stumble upon a wing of pirates attacking some traders at a remote outpost? why can't I jump into a system and see a big battle raging? Why aren't npc's flying to and from stations and systems? etc etc etc
Why? because of instancing. I don't want a reprimand from mods for swearing.

Because you're in a procedurally generated universe that's so big, the chances of running into that event are next to zero?

I do think the game is missing a 'hook' in the gameplay dept somewhere. Some special games give you that pull and I really hope ED gets there. Early days yet fingers crossed, but if it's not there now will it be down the line? Have to say though I have had huge value from ED, really have played it a lot. :)

Add planetary landings with DAOC rvr and it's all good!

To everyone who is leaving the game to play something else... What are you going to play?

Because as far as space games goes, right now the options are quite limited.

Actually im returning to EVE a little. Not fulltime, but bit by bit.
I am on a trial account, trying to find my way back into the game. If all goes well, the main account gets resubbed.

Im also playing Infinifactory.

Finally, the Homeworld Remake is due to release later this month. A promise of stellar graphics and multiplayer.
