I'll start by saying that this game is simply beautiful in VR. So much so that when I'm in a ship with a large open cockpit, I sometimes want to lean back in my chair and take in the view.

I want to stare in awe the beauty of the galaxy that surrounds me, but what do I see? The inside of my pilot's body or the back of my chair.

Would it be possible to implement an articulating chair in ships so my head stays in line with my pilot's body as I lean back in my irl chair?

Press the "reset hmd" button once you are leaned back, it will be a bit odd looking down since your body position wont match that of the ingame body but you wont be seeing inside the body or the back of the chair.

I do this, and I too would like a greater connect between VR HMD and CMDR body as most VR CMDRs would. One other thing I like to do sometimes is park up somewhere pretty/interesting, sometimes an interesting resource area with a dynamic light show; get out of my physical gaming chair, take a few steps, sit on the floor of my room/space ship, smoke a little Onion Head and enjoy the show. The creaks and other sounds of you ship, the view, it's so relaxing I've actually nodded off a few times doing this. When I get on the floor, my dog comes over to hang with me for a cuddle... and thats me gone, asleep on the floor of my Cobra MkIII - drifting in Open space. It's worth getting out of your chair, if you have the space, and checking things out from a different angle

Yup, totally with you on this. Sometimes I'll park up next to a star that has nice solar flares, with the star slightly below and off to one side, get out of my chair, lie on the floor on my front with my head propped on my elbows and just gaze down through those side/floor windows that some ships have at the majestic boiling ball of plasma below me. Just - wow.

We needs them Elite Feets!

Inverse kinematics for the body within the cockpit would be awesome, even more if there was interactivity.

Imagine inviting a few VR commanders holomes to hang out on the bridge of your Anaconda or the dome of your Asp and not just sitting in your chairs :)
