Keyboard and HOTAS Reference Sheet Generator

Thank you StarLightPL.

Since jgm hasn't delivered his promise to redirect his page to https://edrefcard.info/ I'm wondering if it's time for me to start a new thread and ask the mods to close this one and redirect to it.

...but whoever set up the site: it still clashes with my workplace PC. Old one got stuck in the "malicious software" filter, new one actually produces a SSL error message:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to edrefcard.info. Peer received a valid certificate, but access was denied. Error code: SSL_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED_ALERT

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

ATM, not a big deal, since I actually don't need to access HOTAS setups on my workplace PC, but perhaps someone would like to take a look at it.

I would say that EDRefCard is designed for printout so I'm inclined to go with whichever looks best on paper. I do know that there was some back and forth about this in the past.

Ah, I understand. I check it as a reference on my secondary monitor whenever I need it, so in the future if more people express interest in this and you feel like it, you could add to show colors that work better for screens, as an option on the generator.

Yes, I'd really like to have a good favicon but I'm not a graphic design person. I don't even have a design concept for an EDRefCard favicon. But I'm open to submissions.

Unfortunately I'm a terrible designer.

I suspect your workplace network admins have done something strange. The SSL setup on edrefcard.info is a standard LetsEncrypt setup and checks out fine with every browser I have.

On my work chrome and firefox the certificate presented for edrefcard.info is valid and the encryption is working, it may be something wrong with your browser. However that said, there are some "blocked scripts loaded from unsafe sources" on both firefox and chrome. So some includes loaded are probably unsecure. Both browsers block them. IDK how to see what those are.

Just a hunch, try replacing

to https ?

I have the Thrustmaster HOTAS X and I'm really enjoying ED and combat with a real throttle. what I've not been able to figure out is the use of modifiers with panels.

For example, I have a button to bring up panel 1, now I want to hold down a modifier and use the HAT to move around the tabs and then scroll down through the contacts list. but at the moment I need to release the modifier, then press it again for every menu movement.

Am I missing something or is this just not possible?

EDIT - Okay, I think I figured it out after watching this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z1WHdspNIY

He doesn't actually explain how to set it all up, but watching what he was doing I figured it out so that I have a button mapped to the UI, which allows me to use the hat to select one of the 4 panels. Then when in a panel, the hat is mapped to the UI (wsad) and the rocker on the throttle set to change tabs (QE).

When out of the UI, the hat does the up, down, left and right thrusters, and the rockers do forward and backwards (which I only really use for docking).

Gradually I am moving towards a point where I can use just the joystick for the game and not have to touch the keyboard at all.

I did have this working nicely with Voice Attack and those brilliant voice packs, but when I was in a group, the chatter to my mates confused Paul Darrow something chronic.

BTW - playing a space sim with Paul Darrow as the interactive voice. If I could have told a 15 year old me this would one day happen I probably would have fainted.

So the Cougar isn't supported because a lack of images?

That and helping out with EDDI has been taking up all my spare cycles. AndreZero's post is a start but what I really need is a printer-friendly image (i.e. white background) without any annotations. Also in terms of legalities it needs to be free to use and modify (Google images has a filter for that in the advanced search criteria).

Would this work?

If so, I'll mask the throttle as well...if you want it at a different angle or perspective, or anything really, just let me know.

XBOX Controller Modifier Colours

Hi, great work, not sure if this has been mentioned before (too many posts to read). With XBOX controller bindings it would be really useful if the modifiers are on the ABXY buttons that the modified text colours matched those of the buttons.

My bindings are based off the advanced controller mapping buttons ABXY are modifiers but the colours end up being:

Y button yellow = yellow text (great)
X button blue = green text (confusing)
B button red = blue text (confusing)
A button green = red text (confusing)

Hope that makes sense and thanks again for the great tool.

I'm trying to generate a ref sheet for my HOTAS combination and I'm only seeing bindings for my thruster.

I'm using a CH Products FighterStick and Pro Throttle.

My config on the the old site: https://www.mcdee.net/elite/binds/razhpk?replay=razhpk

I get similar results on the new website, but there doesn't seem to be a way for me to reference my config.

I am not merging the 2 devices into one virtual device in the CMCC software as that seems to disable a hat and the analog joystick on the Throttle.

Thanks,

I'll take a look. On the new site you need to fill in the description field for your config if you want a permalink for it. This is so that you can recognise it in the new list view.

I have just dug a laptop out and an old T.Flight Hotas X. I have setup the main axis and tried to print a ref sheet out but I am getting unknown controller.
The reference is kjcxgf
I tried the new version also but had same result. Any ideas.

Thanks. I'm away from my my computer at the moment but will take a look as soon as I'm able. T.Flight Hotas X is supported, there are quite a few entries for it on https://edrefcard.info/list .

I though it odd as I dug an old file from a while ago using the same controller and that still seemed t parse ok.

I have not been in this thread for a while. What is the difference between the original site and the edrefcard one?
